Fleas don't usually live in human hair but they sure do bite. So if you're living with a cat who has fleas be ready to wake up in the morning with red bite marks all over your skin. Sometimes fleas do live in human hair but as soon as they find an animal body they go there. Fleas produce 50 eggs a day and these eggs get into the carpets and floorboards and can hatch up to 13 years later ! So there are plenty of fleas to come on to humans too.

Well my cat had fleas about a two months ago and I was very surprised at the amount of flea and tick killers there where around the place. If you look in pet stores or even a supermarket you should find a range of different sprays and powders to kill them. You will probably need to repeat spraying several times because they will just keep growing and laying eggs.

The best approach is prevention. The best long-term preventive is an insect growth regulator called Precor. This flea hormone will cause sterility in the offspring of any flea that touches it, so spray it every four months on your carpets, hardwood floors, and upholstery (but never on your animals!).

I don't suggest you do this, because it is harming life, and you wouldn't like it if it was done to you.

Anyway, you probably can if you keep it in a dome, although this may be death from starvation or dehydration, not necessarily suffocation.

In general, no - dogs are notorious for licking at itchy spots on their skin, so you would risk intoxication through ingestion of the spray vehicle. Also, dog skin is very different from human skin (in addition to the dense fur, dog skin is generally thicker and less able to absorb materials through it), so Benadryl spray may have a different effect on your dog than it would on you.

They could travel on your clothes,
If you have previously had fleas they can hibernate for 2 years without needing to feed on the cat,
They could have them from a pet shop,
Someone visiting your house could bring them in on shoes,clothes or briefcases.

Fleas hate peppermint!! If you have a dog and it has fleas, go to the pet store and ask for peppermint dog (or cat) shampoo!! It really works!

Fleas also hate the smell of vinegar. Mix up a spray bottle with vinegar and water and spray on your pets to help get rid of fleas. Its a nice safe natural way to treat fleas.

Flea season usually runs from early spring until December depending upon the weather. Once the warmer days of spring are here the fleas begin to hatch and infest our Pets and living areas. I usually suggest to begin flea prevention in February.

As trading got more popular more animals where traded rats would be infected with flees as to other animals they were infected also when the animals where killed or, the rats died from the flees they began to host on humans causing many people to die over the time period of The Black Death!

No. The rats didn't pass the plague to the fleas. The fleas gave it to the rats. If you look it up on a history website then it will be likely that this is the way round it goes. This is the right answer so do take notice of it!! :)

OK ...... Fleas don't like human hair because it isn't warm enough so the will only stay in your hair if they desprate if you have fleas then get a fine hairbrush (close toothed brush) and you must comb you hair thurely and the fine brush wil push them out and make sure you do it over a bason of warm or cold water for the fleas to fall in so the don't jump back

Dish liquid, however, can be irritable to the skin and should only be used if necessary. On a dog, no. It can cause irritation and will not kill the eggs. Try dog flea shampoo or even baby shampoo

If you think your guinea pig has fleas you should either call a vet or go somewhere were you think you could get good advice, maybe going to a pet store and bringing your guinea pig to show them would help, they could maybe have a shampoo they could give you or tell you a way to remove them.

A flea requires a host that has hair in order to lay it's eggs on the host but a flea can feed off of a gecko yes. Be weary that flea's/mites/parasites are not present, as this can kill your gecko if the flea carrys any disease or bacteria.

Give your cat a bath using Dawn original blue dish soap. It will kill the fleas! I didn't believe it worked, but after trying several products from the vet and over-the-counter, I decided to try it. It worked better than anything else I tried!
