Dish liquid, particularly Dawn Dish Liquid is useful in killing fleas on both dogs and cats. It is particularly recommended for animals too young for flea medication and shampoos. Dish liquid, however, can be irritable to the skin and should only be used if necessary. When using any dish liquid, the animal should be rinsed several times with water to make skin irritation less noticeable.
On a dog, no. It can cause irritation and will not kill the eggs. Try dog flea shampoo or even baby shampoo

A flea requires a host that has hair in order to lay it's eggs on the host but a flea can feed off of a gecko yes. Be weary that flea's/mites/parasites are not present, as this can kill your gecko if the flea carrys any disease or bacteria.
Fleas suck bloody from animals, similar to mosquitoes. Upon injection they inject an anti coagulant into the blood, making it easier to suck. This anti coagulant is what causes the itching and the swelling involved with a flea 'bite'. This in itself is not really harmful, more irritating. However fleas can transmit very harmful blood borne diseases like bubonic plague or malaria.
Instead of the bite being harmful, it is what the bite can transmit that we need to worry about.
Sand fleas are small creatures which live on beaches and feed on tidal litter. They are unrelated to human fleas and would not survive for very long on the human body or in human clothes. They are only named sand "fleas" because they jump.

Cockatiels don't get fleas, but they can get other kinds of parasites like mites and ticks. The best way to prevent parasites is to prevent contact with wild birds. DO NOT use chemical bird protectors or mothballs. They might be sold by unscrupulous pet stores, but they are not safe to use around your bird. If you suspect that your bird might have parasites, you should contact your avian veterinarian for treatment. Don't try to treat an infestation yourself. --------
