Does floor joist height increase with length of joist?

Not really. All joists will be the same whether you are working on a 1st or second floor, so your floor does not have a bunch of different levels. Usually we use 2 x 12 lumber, doubling joists which have walls above them or decreasing the spacing if you are at the limits of the span. example you have a 22' span in a garage with living area above it, you would use 2 x 12 with 12" on center spacing.

How do you get square footage of a room for tiles?

Measure the length and the width and multiply them together. You also want to add 10% for waste. 12ft wide and 15ft long is 180 square feet. Add 10% for waste you need 198 square feet of tile 12 x 15 = 180 180 x 1.1 = 198 The same rules apply if you are measuring in centimeters or any other metric.

How can you remove ink from vinyl floor without hurting the floor?

If the ink is the kind used in fountain pens then rubbing with milk might work. If its biro or similar you could try these solvents: nail varnish remover, white spirit, turpentine, WD40. If you don't have a spare offcut of your vinyl to try it out on then I suggest moving the fridge or something to try out on a patch you won't be able to see afterwards. I got biro out of a leather sofa with WD40 with no ill effects!

What is difference between ips flooring and vdf flooring?

An IPS(Indian Patent Stone) Floor, is generally used over terraces in general, to achieve an economical and water sloping finish with a decent monolithic appearance....

However the IPS finish may even be used for other interior and semi-interior areas as the need may be, but in areas, where required structural strength by a floor would be more eg. Car Parks, Workshops and Driveways, a similar kind of a multi-layered flooring using lean concrete in a different proportion altogether may be utilised......Unlike IPS, a VDF floor calls for a more skilled labour with almost twice as many man hours over the same stretch..... This system raises the cost as there is machinery required, but appearance wise and strength wise the VDF (Vacuum Dewatered Floor) floor stands out......

The VDF is generally done with a base layer of lean concrete with suitable expansion joints executed with rubber or steel strips... Then a screed vibrator is run over the surface, supported on channel shuttering spaced 4.0 meters apart. The screed vibrator is run twice to achieve optimum compaction & leveling. After this a system of lower mats & top mat is laid on the green concrete & this is attached to a vacuum pump. This draws out excess water.

How many square yards are in a room that is 28 feet by 32 feet?

The amount will depend a lot on a few things. # The width of the carpet you selected. The most common is 12' but it can come 15' and even more rarely 13'6. # The pattern match of the carpet. Most don't have one, but they are common in loop berbers and pattern carpets. A 2" x 2" pattern won't add a lot to your yardage, but some newer Stainmaster patterns are 20" x 36" and larger. # Even if your room is a perfect square and likely its not, doors and entryways will affect where a seam will go. With this stated, using a 12' carpet without a pattern match you would need about 114.67 square yards of carpet This would mean you would have a few seams.

When can you use mastic?

There are many different types and brands of mastic, so these are generalizations of it. Mastic is a form of tile setting material. Unlike thinset, it has a tacky quality and is meant to be used on wall tile not being put in a highmoisture area like a steam room or shower floor. Mastic should never be used with natural stone, tile larger then 8"x8" unless white clay 8"x10" or some variation of it. If you read the directions on the mastic it may say it can be used on the floor with tile up to 12 x 12. The issue is that those tile must be smooth backed. Almost no commercially sold tile is smoothed backed. There for, mastic can almost never be used on the floor. The advantage of mastic is its tacky texture. This allows the wall tile to not slide on the wall while you are installing. It is also a smooth consistency and makes it easier to spread for a novice. It is also commonly used in craft projects where tile is being put to table tops or a vase.

If there's a 3 feet long and 2 feet wide floor how many 2 inch tiles would you need?

You would need 216 tile. Figure how many 2-inch tiles are in one square foot: there are six across and six up/down. That's 36 tiles per square foot. The floor is 3 feet by 2 feet, which is 6 square feet. 6 square feet x 36 tiles is 216 tiles.
