On a fourth down any play not resulting in a gain of at least 10 yards for a first down results in loss of possession to the other team.
If a defender takes an offensive player's helmet off is it a facemask in football?
Yes. If you remove a players helmet it is a 15 yard penalty. If you are defense and he is offense, it is an automatic first down.
Technically, a "free kick" is any kick that is not a scrimmage kick. In other words, any time the ball is put into play by kicking, and the ball is not snapped on a normal scrimmage down, it is a free kick. This includes kickoffs, as well as kicks following a safety or fair-catch.
The kick following a safety is unique because it is the only type of free kick where the kicker has the choice of punting the ball or kicking it off a tee. (In fact, they could dropkick it as well.) Because of this, many people mistakenly think that "free kick" means the kicker can choose how to kick the ball, when in fact that is only true of the free kick after a safety.
The normal rules for kickoffs apply to all free kicks: The ball must travel 10 yards before the kicking team can recover it (unless first touched by a receiver), and it must not go out of bounds.
If the interception is completed - The intercepting player has complete control over the ball and resumes movement - then proceeds to fumble the ball, then the ball is in open play until it is recovered by either the offense (the team who started with the ball) or the defense (the team who started without the ball). Once recovered, if the player remains standing he may move, but if he is on the ground and in control of an opposing team's player, the ball goes to that team on the first down.

When placing the ball for the new down how is it decided where it goes?
where the ball is at the end of the previous play. if they ran to the right the ball goes on the right hash, if they run to the left then it goes on the left hash and if the run in the middle it goes in the middle.
I believe it would be ruled as a touchdown, but I have no research to prove this. In the NFL, it would be a touchdown at all times except the final two minutes of each half. In the final two minutes of a half, if a ball is fumbled forward it must be recovered by the player that fumbled it for the yardage to count. So in those instances, the ball would go over to the other team on downs at the point of the fumble. At all times in the NFL, the only offensive player who is eligible to recover a fumble going forward on fourth down is the player who fumbled it. Within the last two minutes of either half, the same rule applies on every down. The ball is considered dead at the spot of the fumble under these circumstances, so the defense would take over at that spot. This play would never result in a touchdown.
