Remove the door and window handles. You may need a special tool from the parts store. Then take out all of the screws you can find then remove the retainers on the sides and bottom of the door panel again with a aspecial tool available at the parts store. When all is loose, pull out on the bottom of the panel and press in at the top to disengage the top from the door.
My '01 Focus just blew its head gasket. The mechanic quoted me at $1200.
At ford Dealer ship? Yea have fun spending that kind of money. The gasket itself you can pick up for 30$ max. Find someone who knows even a little about a car, and they will prolly do it for 50$ and a six pack of beer. My friends have replaced a head gasket on a civic and its really easy if u know what your doing.
on the side of the fuse panel under the hood next to the battery.
A you sure this light does not say, ABS. ABS stands for Anti-Lock Brakes. If the light is on there is a problem with the ABS system.

Other than the normal mechanical issues to check (low/no battery charge, bad starter, etc), you might want to double check the alarm system.
I had a problem where my 92 would not start on it's own with a full battery, not even engage the starter; but if you jumped it, it started fine. What we traced it back to was the stock alarm, it either had a short or some low voltage starter kill that kept the starter from getting juice.
Once I had the alarm yanked out for $150 the car reliably started, and I didn't have to deal with the occasional alarm going off and being ignored by everyone.
PS if anyone wants a stock 92 alarm give me ring ;)
Although a car starter is a great concept, I definitely would not install it in a 1999 Intrepid. I have a 99 Intrepid, and have heard that that year was the worst for the Intrepid. I have had nothing but problems with my car, and have spoken to others with the same model and year as mine. A car starter can totally screw up the mechanics of a car, especially one with such a bad rep. Another thing is that if you need a starter, I would probably get a professional to do it. They might offer you some kind of a warranty.
depending on year..... (fuel injection)cold start valve not working try removing it and clean it with carb cleaner if it dont work replace it. (carburettor when cold only) choke not working undo the 3 small screws holdong the choke mechanism to the carb turn the choke unit so the tension on the brass butterfly tightens (at top of carb primary venturi) but not too much if the butterfly is already shut speed up the choke idle speed located behind and to the rear of the choke mechanism. damp in ignition system ( but this would usuall cause running problems too) remove distributor cap dry inside with a rag and spray wd40 or water repellant and refit cap.. also spray around spark plugs and coil, but remember to dry first cos wd4o can trap the damp inside added by bheilers: you also might consider checking the OVPR (overvoltage Protection Relay) located on the firewall in the engine compartment behind the batter on most models. It would either have 2 10 amp fuses on the top or if its a aftermarket brand, would have a single 10amp fuse. Check the fuse(s) if they or it is blown replace and try starting the car again. the OVPR is a common issue with the 190 and 300 series MB's
Hey Carolyn==It isn't real hard but you need direction. Go to Auto zone or another parts store and get a manual on your car for about $18 and it should have pictures and everything. Good luck Joe

First of all, you will have to pull the steering wheel with a puller suited for the job,
when you have the wheel off, turn the key to the on position, then using a small Phillips screwdriver, press the pin located on the cylinder lock housing, the key and lock
should pull out, if not , slightly wiggle the lock back and forth until it comes out. Replacement will run about 7-12.00$, The electrical ignition switch about 12-27.00$..
According to Champion spark plug applications chart, the gap for 2000 Pontiac Grand Am 4cyl engine is .050.
Take plastic panel off under stearing column (4 screws - two holding on hood release). There's a metal panel behind that (take off 5 small bolts). It's to the left of the stearing column. could be blue or yellow with 5 wires coming off it. It slides off a plastic attachment. I Know it says in the manual it's to the right of the stearing column..........but not always.
You can start by looking at GreatLakesXJ.com/tech.html. Be sure to give a donation so they can keep their wonderful document library open. You'll find the factory manual and parts catalogs there.
would highly recommend a trip to your local parts store, they have manuals that are model specific and have a wealth of info in them
1 remove passenger side headlight assembly. Remove the black plastic protector over the headlight assembly. Next remove the headlight assembly. This is done by lifting up on the left and right side retaining clips at the back of the headlight assembly. Black spring steel clips. They may be rusted and a little WD40 can help.
2 once the clips are lifted, the headlight assembly can be pulled forward. Now you can see the 2 retaining screws on the side marker light lens. Remove these and pull the marker assembly forward. Pull straight out, there is a retaining pin that need to come straight out. Now you can turn the light holder a quarter turn counter clockwise and replace the bulb.
I suppose this is a car component. The ignition coil could be burned due to high current flow through the primiry wiring for too long time (large dwell angle). If this is an old style mechnical point ignition system, check the point air gap for correct dwell angle. If this is a new distrubutor less system, the igniter should be checked.
go buy a workshop manuel there are blowups in manuel
you may have a short in the ignition swith get test checked, a steering column specialist can do this in a couple of minutes
I thought a full tank would help but after I filled the tank, the problem has WORSENED. Its very difficult to start it now as it knocks like crazy. The car idles smoothly sometimes esp. before engaging the drive gear, after that it simply stalls. If the filter is clogged then the car would not start at all. Right? Please suggest. Thanks. check to see if your fuel filter is clogged..also might need a fuel pump
There can be a host of problems caused by a vacuum leak, depending on which side of the venturi it is located on and what system the vacuum operates. Some of these can be:
Standing in front of the engine facing the windscreen on to of the engine is the Throttle body. You may have to remove some covers to get sight of it. The temperature sensor is in a upright position on the right hand side of the throttle body. It is screwed directly into the intake manifold.
usually you have to press, or pound with a hammer...if the joints are riveted in you need to break the rivets, perhaps with a chisel...on rare occasion the joints are not servicable and the whole control arm need to be replaced
When you are using the Apple iPad and find the device low on battery power, consider turning airplane mode on. By activating airplane mode on your iPad, you are essentially turning off both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions on the device. These two functions tend to drain the iPads battery power by quite a bit. You may also wish to turn off some or all push notifications on your iPad if you wish to save battery power.
After the vehicle has been parked, set the emergency brake, lifted the front end on jacks and chalked the rear wheels; First, you would disconnect the starter relay and battery wires to the starter solenoid. Next, unscrew the three nuts holding the exhaust system bracket to the starter mount studs. Then, remove the exhaust system bracket off of the starter studs. Once the bracket is removed you can start removing the studs that secure the starter to the engine block. Finally, when the last stud is ready to be removed, you better have your hand ready to catch the starter when it falls downward because when that last stud is removed it is under gravitational pull.
first you remove the instrument cluster cover by taking out the headlight switch, rear defrost switch ect, take out all blank covers as well, use a Phillips screwdriver and remove all screws holding it on. take out the two screws holding the cluster to the dash. take out the five screws that hold the cover over the pedals in place. now reach up behind the cluster to the speedo cable, there will be a clip that as to be drepressed with your finger while you pull it back off the speedo guage. next you pop the hood and use a long Phillips head on a ratchet or a 13mm socket and remove the hold down bolt on the cable at the transmission. pull the gear head straight out and pull the other end through the firewall towards the front of the car. you will have to slacken the rubber boots at the firewall to do this. replacement is reverse.
on a 1984 caprice this is tricky but not very hard. First thing you do is remove negative battery connection and block back tires & set brake, then lift front pass side of car. Behind wheel there is a support that has to come off first. don't worry it's just a bracket for frame support, it wont hurt to remove this part for now. then you'll see 2 wires 1 big one that goes to battery positive, remove that connection first. then the little one next. now that the wires are off, look for two bolts ,they should be 9/16 or 14mm? one is long & one is short don't mix these up! some are the same size. loosen them slowly. the starter motor is heavy so be careful. once you remove bolts there might be a hold down or grounding bracket. remove & turn starter out! remember how you take it out, since it has to go back in the same way! reverse procedure to install.
