How do you make yourself temporarily deaf for fundraising?
You can't make yourself completely deaf if you're a hearing person. Part of the transmission of sound is through bone conduction. You will always hear that part.
To deafen yourself as much as possible, temporarily, you can get earplugs at a pharmacy or an outdoors/hunting store. The maximum rating for earplugs in the US is 29 or 30 decibels. Get the highest rating you can find. There are many different types, but they all succeed about the same. However, the physical experience in your ear differs.
Then here's one way that you can try but I don't know if there are any unwanted consequences. You can get a 1 oz syringe (no needle!) and glop a bunch of Vaseline® in it. Then put it far into your ear canal and squirt hard. This fills the cavity and your hearing will be moderately impaired (which is a real measurement--see "audiograms"). You can wipe the outer ear to "tidy up," and when you want it out a tissue and then a cotton swab will do. And it sort of melts out.

Do box tops make a difference in schools?
Children may believe that they are making a positive difference in their schools simply by collecting box tops. Of course, they would love to contribute by helping their schools raise money for the supplies that they have always wanted. Kids would beg for new P.E. balls or coolscience equipment in classrooms. Maybe they want new textbooks to learn from. Because they would do anything to get what they want, they eventually end up begging their parents to buy them numerous cereal or granola bar boxes especially for these reasons. However, these young kids do not understand that those small pieces of ten cent cardboard cutouts are overpriced for what they are really worth. Companies care more about promoting their products rather than raising money for elementary schools. Box tops are used as way to encourage parents to continuously buy particular foods for their children to make good sales for the company.
Addendum:While the above might be true, what is more true is that schools use every resource they can find. The box top and soup label programs have been very effective in helping financially strapped schools provide tools and equipment that students might not normally have. Additionally, I've never heard of a school that encouraged wanton or wasteful spending by parents and students' families to boost contributions. School staff members work very hard to find programs that will put no added burdens on families in their districts. Although there are pessimistic perspectives out there, there are greater truths available to those who seek them.Edit: My school does up box tops and we get a lot of money from them. My family doesn't really go out of our way to buy products with box tops, we're "Oh, cool, this muffin mix we like comes with a box top!" While it may be another story for different people, it's really up to the parents to decide whather to indulge on box tops or save.

What are some fundraising ideas?
One thing that's really popular, depending on what you're fundraising for, is discount cards. You go to local businesses and draw up small contracts saying that when someone presents your fundraiser card they'll do something like 10% off or free coffee with purchase of a pastry at a cafe. You can get the cards printed very reasonably and then sell them for however much, $10 is pretty normal. The business gets advertising on the card and new customers and you get the money from the sales. Schools and clubs do this all the time.
A similar option is to get local merchants to donate a my-pon that's kind of a groupon type thing that donates some of the purchase price to your fundraising cause. It's particularly good because it does not cost the merchants anything, and does not cost you anything.

First of all, congrats on getting your fundraising started! Raising support for a worthy cause can be super rewarding. But obviously, if you're not an official non-profit, it can be really tricky finding a good way to build support for your cause.
One route you might want to consider: setting up a homepage for your group on a fundraising website. Having a group homepage online makes organizing and fundraising infinitely easier And though the majority of fundraising sites require you have official non-profit status, many good ones only require that you are a group - and will give you plenty of the tools you need.
For example, one good site is Meet Up who allow you to fundraiser directly to your account, and register a group without having an official non-profit status - and they cover groups around the world, while giving you some tools to do event management. But the tools they offer are a little limited outside of fundraising.
Another good option would be Empowered.org , a platform that also helps small groups fundraise and organize (regardless of non-profit status). They also work for international groups - and offer a fair amount of useful tools, like the ability to organize your group or to create volunteer activities and fundraising campaigns for more targeted ways to raise support.
Or you could always try to send up your own PayPal account to link to you directly to help you fund raise, but this is a little trickier and a bit inflexible.
Can we hold charity collections if we are not registered?
The advantage of being a registered charity is that you can give people receipts for their donations, which can then be used in claiming a deduction on their income tax. You can collect charitable donations without being a registered charity, but the money donated to a charity that is not registered doesn't count for the purpose of income tax deduction.

Does online fundraising really work?
I'm doing it!
There are some closed minds that attempted to answer this simple question. Chances are that they have a lot of points in Yahoo Answers which indicates they work hard in an activity (answering questions) that doesn't pay them for their time. Goodwill is still a noble virtue to a certain extent, I guess.
I was looking to generate more income in addition to my full time job and came across cash gifting last February. I liked the concept of no inventory, no billing, no returns, and the additional 30% value of all revenue received because it's tax free.
A cash gifting transaction is pure. Yes, I have to advertise and promote the link to my cash gifting web site just as I would if it were some other opportunity. But, that is it. All the other things associated with running a home based business are out the window.
I do remember feeling empowered when I sent my cash gift to my sponsor. I felt in control of my own destiny and was taking deliberate and decisive action. No-one was forcing me to do it. I also felt like I just threw $500 in cash into the street-ugh! But, my web site was up within 72 hours and I now had a link to share with the world to begin receiving cash gifts. Now it was time to get working and advertising my link to drive Internet traffic to my web site.
I didn't receive and gifts for my first two weeks and my sponsor encouraged me to keep placing ads. Then, I started getting visitors to my web site. Some contact information that people were entering was good and others entered false email addresses and phone numbers. I guess we all do it.
On week three, someone who understood the concept of cash gifting and had a similar mindset sent a $500 cash gift and the theory became reality. It worked. They were thinking about investing in a Cold Stone Ice-cream franchise for $270,000, but discovered there are many existing ones for sale because they don't make money for the first two years. The $500 cash gift was a significantly lower risk and they still had money for adverting and marketing.
I reinvest about 20% of all the gifts I receive into placing ads, Google AdWords, and whatever else yields good results.
I am now averaging about $700 per week in cash gifts and if it keeps up I'll probably quit my job. No one at work knows that I'm doing this on the side and I also don't tell my family or neighbors either.
I think there are a lot of people that are surfing the web and trying to decide whether or not to get into cash gifting. I did for about a week.
Am I lucky? No. Luck is nothing more than being prepared when an opportunity arises. So now I have a link ready to go whenever someone else with an "open mind" is ready to start cash gifting.
Here is my link: http://www.dailycashmakers.com
If you don't have a link for other people to click on that are interested in cash gifting, then they will find someone else that does. I was never one who liked sitting on the bench at any event. It's is much more exciting and invigorating being in the game.
That's it.
How they should be used in fundraising in relation to the possible financial distress?
What are some fundraising ideas for homeless childrens shelter?
There are literally thousands of different ways to raise funds for causes, including that of poor children. The best way to go about raising funds depends on many factors. Is the cause an already existing group or organization, such as UNICEF or Feed the Children? If so, that organization will usually have fund raising tools and strategies available for use in the community. If not, much depends on the fundraising goal, the desired time frame, the available resources to raise the funds such as volunteers, location and materials, and other logistical concerns.
