1. The Midrash Lekach Tov (Pesikta Zutra 35:20) relates that each of Jacob's sons took a stone and put it on Rachel's grave to make up Rachel's tomb. Here and elsewhere we learn that by placing stones on the grave one participates in building up the tombstone. In those days one did not mark a grave with marble or granite and a fancy inscription, but one made a cairn of stones over it. Each mourner coming and adding a stone was effectively taking part in the Mitzvah of matzevah ("setting a marker") as well as a symbolic levayat ha-meyt ("accompanying the dead"). Our present practice is not stated, but appears reminiscent of this ancient tradition.

2. The book Ta'amey Ha-Minhagim (The Reasons for the Customs, pp. 470-471) says, "We put pebbles on the grave to show that the visitor was at the grave. It was a sort of calling-card for the honor of the deceased, to mark that you have paid a visit." (See also Orach Haim 224:8).

A contemporary respondent, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, confirms this custom, noting Eliyahu Rabba 224:7 as his source (Responsa Yabia Omer IV, Yoreh Deah 35).

There is no specific term for these players. IT IS TRUE, that in New Orleans there were special bands that followed the Hearses so to speak. they played dead-slow stuff as appropriate for a funeral en route to the cemetery, but after the burial on the return livened up with the familiar ( Saints Go marching In!) There was a scene of this sort of thing in the opening sequences of the movie (Pete Kelly"s Blues) Pete Kelly being a Jazz musician. It was not clear who the funeral was of or for but it was Not the Title Character! The slow trot was ( walkling with Jesus) and the Saints was the return march, at all speed! It is odd but a number of movies open with funerals and sometimes the victim is obscure or unknown and does not relate to the plot- this case is closed! pun intended.

Brian was abusive to her and the children some changed their names to distance themselves from him! Son Michael was not on any good terms with Brian Blosil due to the abuse! Marie felt the kids didn't want him there! He was being questioned on sex abuse charges in Utah and Nevada of some of the kids! Michael her son who killed himself may have been Blosil's target or his sisters who told him of it! Yes. one can have a funeral on Tisha B'Av as the only reason that a funeral is delayed is because it is forbidden to do things required such as digging the grave, making the coffin, carrying the coffin, etc. This would only be on Shabbos (the Sabbath) or Yom Tov (the holy days) when such actions are forbidden.

I actually attended such a funeral on Tisha B'Av 5772 (2012).

You have used some ambiguous language. By Flight Home I assume you mean the body is transported by air- if somebody died, in say California- was locally embalmed- then flown to, say New York. I do not know of any specific songs or hymns associated with this out-landish brand of albeit necessary funeral customs. Of course, if the deceased was an active duty member of the Armed Forces, there are a variety of service songs ( Artillery, Anchors Aweigh, Army Air Corps, USMC HYMN, etc) which might be used. ( Taps) is a bugle call and not, strictly speaking, a song, and you stated song.

Reportedly George Clooney was asked to return to do a cameo for the Green's Funeral. He supposedly turned down the offer because he believed that his cameo would overshadow the actual funeral that he though deserved to hold its own since Anthony Edward's character deserved to be the one in the spotlight.

Now how much of that is actually true who knows, even if it is I still think it says a lot about Clooney's ego, that just a two second clip of him standing there would make people forget about the funeral and go "oh my god its George Clooney!". Oh well, it is what it is, I would have loved to see Ross at his best friends funeral since it would only make sense considering how close they were and all they had done for each other and helped each other through when Ross was at County General.
