Can you burn diesel fuel in your oil furnace?
In general, yes. But they've put big taxes on diesel.
I have also converted an #2 oil furnace to reliably burn the motor oil from our van fleet
How do you get rid of furnace oil smell?
Hire someone to clean your furnace and give it a tune up. Worked for me.
Convert oil furnace to electric?
"Converting" an oil furnace to electric will not be economically practical. You'd be far better off getting a "ground source heat pump" and having someone install it for you. They're much more efficient than the older style electric heat that uses resistor heating elements.
Furnace Condensate line overflowing after heavy rain what do i do?
Head to the roof, and check your vent line cover. It's basically a tiny roof for your furnace vent. You likely have a leak allowing water to fall down to the furnace. I would recommend being proactive about this: even though you have a drain leg, it can still allow moisture to get into your heat exchanger, which will mean a new furnace in a few years. Not to be an alarmist, but I'd take care of it soon.
Who invented the furnace and when and how was it invented?
There may be two interpretations of the term "furnace" as it is used here (and maybe more). There is the industrial furnace used to smelt ore and process and refine metals, and there is the furnace that is used to heat structures. Here's the problem. People have been figuring out how to heat the spaces where they hang out since a stone age person lit a fire in a cave. Bottom line is that we can't pinpoint an individual at a specific time with a specific plan. Use the link provided to the Wikipedia article on the furnace. The two drawings you'll see there at the beginning of the article date way, way back, and that's a clue to how long we've been working on solving the problem of heating our buildings. Read down through the posted material and you'll appreciate how difficult it is to attribute the invention of the furnace to a single individual. Or maybe you'll appreciate why it probably isn't as easy as that and only "steps" in the development of this appliance can be noted.
Yes you can; According to "FlashOffRoad"
"Kerosene is routinely added to home heating oil, in large quantities. The furnace doesn't know, or care. The furnace oil pump does not have the same clearances (they are more crude, greater clearances, lower pressure...) and the kerosene won't hurt them. Most will (and often do) run on straight kerosene--here in NH, if the oil tank is outside, the mix will be either 50/50 or straight kerosene. Kerosene doesn't have the same heat values either, you won't get the same amount of power from a gallon of kerosene as from heating oil, or diesel fuel."

Personally though, I wouldn't add more than 10 gallons per 275 tank full just to be safe.
Can I heat my garage with my home furnace?
Mechanical penetrations (Supply or Return Air Vents) are not allowed in garages in residential construction under the International Residential Code.
<><><>
Some countries' Building Codes and/or Regulations may allow a garage to be heated by a normal water-heated radiator supplied by the house's furnace or hot water calorifier. (Calorifier = "boiler" in everyday language.)
To find out if it is allowed where your home is situated you must check the Building Codes and/or Regulations for your locality i.e. Town/State/Country or - better still, as you needed to ask this question here - ask a locally-licensed plumber or HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) technician for advice.

Yes you can, as long as you use a 1 way trap tha restricts the airflow only to the garage and not backwards. "International building codes" do not apply everywhere
Furnace oil is the source of fuel used by the heating system to create a consistent warmth when required.
Can you convert a gas furnace to electric?
I am in the process of changing a gas furnace to electric now. it seems like a long road so far.i have just completed gutting the gas furnace out completely. as far as i can tell you will need to purchase your heating element assembly and sheet metal to replace the metal taken out of the original unit. element assembly must be within 1 foot of the blower (fan) so the air it brings in will be blown through the element assy.
What is a Kerr wood and oil burning furnace worth?
I'm in the middle of the same dilemma of trying to track this info down as Kerr's website is down for construction and no one else seems to have anything on it out there. The following info may be helpful: http://www.furnacecompare.com/wood-furnaces/brands/kerr.html
Provided you are nowhere near the focal point of the furnace then they are perfectly safe.
What is rheem Home gas furnace efficiency built in 1983?
Get the Input and Output ratings off the furnaces nameplate and divide the Output by the Input ie. 80,000btu divided by 100,000 btu = 80% efficiency
In steelmaking, it is a vertical cylindrical furnace used for melting iron either for casting or for charging in other furnaces. René-Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur built the first cupola furnace on record, in France, about 1720. Cupola melting is still recognized as the most economical melting process; most gray iron is melted by this method.

How does a hardy outside wood furnace work?
I am not that pleased with the hardy wood burner. Before we purchased an outside wood-burner we had an indoor. There is less dust and smoke in my house and it is like having a furnace on. The bad part is we have had a hardy for about 5 years and this summer we got a hole in the water tank and have to have someone weld it..... I live in a residential neighborhood and my neighbor complains that there is a lot of smoke and they have held a piton to make us get rid of it. (it didn't go through).. But honestly it does create a new-since. It does save us money, yearly more that I know. We have a Victorian home that resembles a doll house. The stove itself takes a lot of wood to fill it, you only fire it 2 a day and there is a lot of ashes that drop to the bottom and are sort of a pain to get out so overall i would say, if you were out living in the sticks this would be great for you, but for me it sort of sucks..... Plus if i have to get rid of it in a year or two look at all the money I am out.

How does an electrostatic furnace filter work?
a electrostatic filter simply presents the opposits charge to the air passing through and much the same as a magnet the charged particles are attracted and attached themselves to the opposite charged parts of the filter media.
Therefore the name, Electrostatic.

Something else, you might be interested in is Ultra Violet Light Air Treatment within your duct work system. It's power consumption is not hardly mentionable , its safety and reliability and effectiveness are awesome. Its, life expectansy is measure in years and years and its super quiet. It kills an incredible amount of bacterial, mold, virus, and such as this in a single pass of air and therefore eliminates much odor and health safety factors. You must not look directly at U.V. light though, so it must be inside your system out of sight.
What temperature should you keep thermostate at for your furnace?
Winter? 68-72 but make sure you get the humidity up to 55-60 percent or you won't feel warm and cozy.
How much will a salon pay a nail technician per hour?
about depends on what the nail technician did for a customer. If the salon happens to have a lot of employees, you may not be paid as much
I guess it depends on where you live. Here in Kansas City, Ks they make $22,000. Hope this helps!

I think you mean from the furnace to the ac unit as the ac unit does not power anything, so here is the low voltage wiring schematic from furnace to ac unit. What size furnace for 1800 square foot house?
Based on square footage alone, it isn't possible to specify a certain size required to keep your home warm. The age of the home (having a direct correlation with the type of insulation that is used), the height of the ceiling in your home, the existence of skylights, the number of outside doors and windows and basically the extent of exposure to the outside environment and the sun and your geographic location are all factors that determine the heat loss of your home.
To give you a reasonable range, the power output of your furnace should be anywhere from 55,000 to 65,000BTU/hr. When I say output, I am referring to efficiency x Input Power. For instance, a 92% rated 60,000BTU/hr furnace has an output of 55,200BTU/hr.
Check out the three charts in the related link (There is one chart for bungalow-type, one for semi-detached and one for 2-story detached homes)
In each category home, there is an estimated size for a home built before and a home built after 1980. This is simply to count for the extent of insulation to minimize heat loss and mostly aimed at the type of homes constructed in Southern Ontario. Find your answer in any of the charts and depending the age of home.
Do also keep in mind that these estimates are mostly good for climates in or similar to Southern Ontario.
