What is a good gauge gun and barrell chock to hunt quail with?

Shotguns are best for hunting quail. I would suggest a winchester model shotgun because of their high quality. The winchester x3 series seem to be pretty good. If you are looking for other type of rifles, .22 caliber are best in my opinion. I own an old .22 winchester and it shoots great. I've also seen airgun quail hunting. If you are interested in airguns, I suggest a pcp (precharged pneumatic) rifle because of its great accuracy and power. The airarms s410 is a great long and short distance .22 pcp airgun.

When does pigeon season start and end?

First pigeons like you find in the cities are not native species, they are rock doves that were brought here by early Europeans to be cage raised for food. As expected, many escaped and lived free and mostly eat from the crumbs of man. As nonnative specie's, many states do not protect pigeons; similarly to wild boar.

If you mean wild doves, such as mourning doves these are hunted under federal law as a migrating game bird. Seasons vary from year to year and are set by the fed in mid-summer; but usually the season is around September.

In the USA we live under a dual legal system; so states are free to limit the season on any game animal to less than the season set by the feds. Some states, like New York, consider the mourning dove a song bird and therefor have a closed, no hunting, season on them.

Check with your local state game agency to be sure. All post offices have the Federal regulations and seasons and will gladly give you a copy.

What lives longer quail or phesants?

Well female quails live only 18 months- 2 years. Males however live until they are five, which i think is a very long time for a small bird. i am guessing that phesants live longer as they are bigger, but my grandma had one and he only lived a couple of months so i dont really know. depends on the environment and survival.
