GPS systems use the twenty-seven satellites that orbit the earth. The GPS receiver uses a mathematical equation similar to trilateration. The GPS receiver uses four or more of the satellites that are constantly orbiting the earth and use the information received to find it's location.

Make sure you have the latest Firmware installed on the GPS.

(you need to use windows to upgrade the Firmware)

Connect the GPS to your computer via USB and turn it on. Back up your data to your computer, your computer will read the GPS as an external disk. I just copied over the .POI and.IMI files in the MAP folder on the GPS file directory.

Disconnect the GPS like you would any other storage drive.
