Global Warming

The greenhouse effect is not a matter of opinion. It is a simple matter of an object (Earth) absorbing electromagnetic energy from the Sun in the high frequency part of the spectrum and re-radiating it in the lower frequency regime. The lower frequency regime encounters far more absorption in the atmosphere and the energy is thereby retained and heats the Earth.

The greenhouse effect is a quantitative theory complete with equations, predictions, verifications and is testable in detail. The larger scientific questions pertain to integrating the numerous contributions to global warming in addition to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect and climate change are not the same thing and require a more sophisticated discussion than can be accomplished in a brief "answer."

Some species affected by melting ice caps include polar bears, arctic foxes, and various seal species that rely on sea ice for hunting and breeding. These animals are facing habitat loss, reduced food availability, and increased competition from other species moving into their traditional territories.

Scientists can measure that the global temperature is rising. They know that rising temperatures will change the climate. Weather happens from day to day, but climate change takes longer, several years, or several decades before it becomes clear that it is happening. That is the situation now. Scientists know that rising temperatures will change the climate.

• Humans burning coal, oil and natural gas increases atmospheric CO2.
• Deforestation, cutting down trees, means that less carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere.
• Volcanic eruptions can put carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, but not nearly as much as fossil fuels.

The major cause of the change in levels is the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This releases extra carbon dioxide that has been hidden underground for millions of years, and it is this extra CO2 that is causing global warming.

Ozone depletion is a long term decrease in atmospheric ozone in the region above the lower troposphere. Its symptoms include more UV-B arriving at Earth's surface, and a larger, longer-lasting, sooner-starting ozone "hole". (The ozone "hole" itself is a natural phenomenon.

Global warming (better called "global climate change") is a long term increase in sea levels, decrease in land-supported ice flows, and increase in hurricane / typhoon intensity and/or frequency.

Ozone depletion may or may not contribute to climate change, but since ozone is itself is a greenhouse gas, it would allow the daily high temperatures to be slightly higher and the lows slightly lower.

Warming of the atmosphere underneath the ozone layer, allows more water vapor in to reduce the amount of ozone present. So in some sense global warming contributes to ozone depletion.

The water cycle helps maintain a global water balance by constantly cycling water through processes like evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. Additionally, natural filtration processes, such as percolation through soil and rocks, help purify water by removing impurities and contaminants. Wetlands and forests also play a crucial role in purifying water by filtering out pollutants and improving water quality.

Much of the Netherlands is below sea level and the sea is kept out with a great system of dikes. If the sea level rises, then there will be massive flooding.

Venice is concerned about the effects of global warming because of the risk of the rise in sea level, it could put the city under 20cm of water.

Photosynthesis helps reduce Global Warming by taking in carbon dioxide. If there is too much of it, then carbon dioxide keeps the sunlight inside earth's atmosphere making the earth warmer. This leads on to global warming, but photosynthesis helps reduce parts of the effect.

A recent Scientific Article stated that CO2 reclamation could be Adequately Accomplished by the Revisioning of all of Our land use and Agricultural practices.

Methane is also known as marsh gas because it is commonly found in marshes, swamps, and wetlands due to the breakdown of organic matter by bacteria under anaerobic conditions.

Two methods for preparing methane gas are:

1. From the decomposition of organic matter in the absence of oxygen (anaerobic digestion): C6H12O6 → 3CO2 + 3CH4
2. From the reaction between sodium acetate and sodium hydroxide: CH3COONa + NaOH → CH4 + Na2CO3

Yes, earthquakes can release greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. This occurs when the movement of tectonic plates releases trapped gases from underground reservoirs, such as within fault zones or magma chambers. However, the amount of greenhouse gases released by earthquakes is relatively small compared to human activities.

The Maldives and Bangladesh will be affected because sea levels will rise due to thermal expansion resulting in floods as there the land lies low. Initially they will be affected by storm surges which will flood their croplands with sea water, making them useless. Later the whole islands may be submerged.

Believe it or not. Humans CANNOT CHANGE THE CLIMATE OF A PLANET.

No matter how big we believe ourselves to be, we alone cannot change the climate of an entire planet.

Most people are believing what they are told on the news.

Recycle your waste, cut down on using electricity and every other 'rule' we are told to prevent the warming of our planet.

Believe it or not, we do make an impact....but it is absolutely tiny compared to what we are made to believe and nothing we do could reverse such drastic changes in our Earths atmosphere.

Our Earth is increasing in temperature at a fast rate, but this is completely out of our hands.

Such changes happen every 3600 years, its nature. Be it our Earth starts it natural orbit abit closer to the sun, thus heating our atmosphere, or some other reason. (Be it that we live in a binary star system and the secondary star approaches).

Those that are reading this will have a heads up.

As our planets atmosphere begins to heat up, the gulf stream will become too warm to continue. Until now, the Earths conditions have kept this vital current continuing. But as the atmosphere heats up, the cold, fresh water from the north will become too warm to keep its flow to the south and the flow will eventually stop.

This will increase the temperature around the globe. 'Permafrost' will no longer be permanently frozen. The infrastructure of our cities will crumble and need instant repairing (Pipe's for gas and water etc.)

If only we were told the truth. But our governments think 'the truth' is too much for us to take in.

All we will see, is summers getting longer. In one year, flowers will bloom in spring....then bloom again as the temperatures rise.

Human behaviours do not lead to climate change. We are merely a species upon this planet. Continue to recycle, but also, we must continue to keep up the fight to be told the truth. We are big and strong enough to be told the truth. This is our planet as much as it is theirs.

We must stop pointing fingers and take responsibilities squarely on our shoulders, for our children and our children's children's sake.

The rising body of warm air is known as a thermal. Thermals are created when the ground is heated, causing the air above it to become warmer and less dense, leading to upward movement. Thermals are a key component in the formation of clouds and can also be utilized by glider pilots to gain altitude.

Global regulation is necessary to ensure consistency and cooperation across borders, particularly in areas such as trade, finance, and environmental protection. It helps prevent regulatory arbitrage, where companies exploit differences in regulations between countries for their benefit, and promotes a level playing field for businesses. Global regulation also helps address transnational issues such as climate change and cybersecurity that require coordinated efforts among countries.
