Do you have the lyrics to The Lifeboat by the Happy Goodman Family?
When I think of how He came so far from Glory,
Came and dwelt among the lowly such as I;
To suffer shame and such disgrace,
On Mount Calvary take my place;
Then I ask myself the question, "Who am I?"
Who am I that a King would bleed and die for?
Who am I that He would pray: "Not my will, thine for?"
The answer I may never know,
Why He ever loved me so;
That to an old rugged cross He would go,
For who am I?
Then I'm reminded of the words,
"I'll leave thee never,
Just be true, I'll give to you a life forever."
Then I wonder what I could have done,
To deserve God's only Son;
To fight my battles till they're won,
O, Who am I?
Who wrote the gospel song It's your season to be blessed?

IT'S YOUR SEASON, TO BE BLESSED
GOD MADE YOU A PROMISE, YOU STOOD THE TEST
HE'S GONNA OPEN THE WINDOWS and POUR YOU OUT A BLESSING
IT'S YOUR SEASON, TO BE BLESSED

(its your season say) IT'S YOUR SEASON, TO BE BLESSED
GOD MADE YOU A PROMISE, (and you stood) YOU STOOD THE TEST
(windows of heaven) WINDOWS OF HEAVEN (pour you out a blessing) POUR YOU OUT A BLESSING
(It's your season) IT'S YOUR SEASON, (oh my God) TO BE BLESSED

I'M BLESSED IN THE CITY, I'M BLESSED IN THE FIELD
I'M BLESSED GOING OUT, I'M BLESSED COMING IN
he's gonna open the WINDOWS and POUR YOU OUT A BLESSING
IT'S YOUR SEASON, TO BE BLESSED
CHORUS:
Verse 3
I'VE BEEN THROUGH THE FIRE,
I'VE BEEN THROUGH THE FLOOD,
but I'M STANDING HERE, BECAUSE OF HIS BLOOD
he's gonna open the WINDOWS, and POUR YOU OUT A BLESSING
IT'S YOUR SEASON (yes it is), TO BE BLESSED
(say it again) IT'S YOUR SEASON, (to be blessed) TO BE BLESSED
GOD MADE YOU A PROMISE, YOU STOOD THE TEST
WINDOWS OF HEAVEN POUR YOU OUT A BLESSING
IT'S YOUR SEASON (repeat)
What are the lyrics to 'Don't Sit in My Pew'?
These are as close as I can come to them:
Well I went camping just a while back with a couple of high school friends
And on Sunday morning I wanted to find a church to worship in.
So I packed my truck and headed out, it was there in a cloud of dust.
It was the Ebeneezer Fellowship Non-Denominational Bapti Costal Free Will Church.
When I walked in they were ready to start, and that little church was packed.
There was only one seat in the very front row even though I really wanted the back.
So I walked right in and I took a seat, a hush fell over the place.
And this sweet little gray haired woman walked up and said boy I got something to say.
Folks around here call me Granny, I'm as sweet as I can be.
Well I volunteer for everything they couldn't make it without me.
I teach Sunday School, I sew and bake, why I'm even in charge of the Christmas play!
And there's only one thing I ask in return, a lesson you should learn.
Don't sit in my pew, you know it belongs to me.
I've been sittin' right here for at least 40 years, and that's the way it's gonna be.
I can tell that you are new around here so you'd better get one thing clear.
If you know what's good for you, don't sit in my pew.
Well I walked to the back of the church and I was feeling just about as tall as a flea.
One of those Deacons walked up and handed me a brown ice cold metal folding chair.
So I sat out there and I listened to the choir as they sang "I shall not be moved"
And then the preacher looked at me and he said "now we want our special guest to stay when the service is over for some of Granny's Red Velvet Cake. And that's what I did.
But just about the time they were saying the blessing, I noticed I didn't have a fork.
Well, I figured I'd caused enough commotion for one day. So I thought I'm gonna ease on over there to the kitchen and find the utensil drawer and help myself. And that's what I did.
But just about the time I found that utensil drawer, guess who spun me around? Yep, ole Granny!
Stay out of my kitchen, you know it belongs to me.
I been cookin' in here for at least 40 years, and that's the way it's gonna be.
So if you need a fork or if you need a spoon, the next time stay in the other room.
Boy you'd better pay attention.
Stay out of my kitchen!
And then she reached up, kissed me on the cheek and said "you know, Granny hopes you'll come back next week. But if you do, don't get in my parking space, don't sing so loud, wear a coat and tie, come early for Sunday School, stay out my kitchen, but most of all…
I can tell that you are new around here so you'd better get one thing clear.
If you know what's good for you, stay out of my pew.
And remember, Granny loves you!
Why did Gospel music originate?
Gospel music originated from a continent rather than a single country.
African slaves who were brought to America were forbidden to maintain their culture through playing their musical instruments. To get them through the long, dreary, drudge-filled days working hard out in the fields, they incorporated dance and music from their culture, and their songs focussed on hard work and praising God in the midst of it. This was the origin of Gospel music.

Blues song almost always make exclusive use of the I-IV-V (1-4-5) progression in a 12 bar phrase. ((I-IV-I-V-IV-I) 2-bars each.) this is crucial for achieving that classic blues sound, unfortunately it also makes all blues songs sound similar and rather predictable.

What is the strum pattern for long black veil?
D=down strum (on the downbeats aka 1+2+3+4) U=up strum (on the "+" between the downbeats)
The words make it seem like the strums are closer or farther apart than they should (it helps to match up the strum with the lyrics so you can accentuate them), but keep just keep it simple and listen to the song for the best reference.
All major chords (G, D, and C)
Verse (repeat the chord pattern with the different lyrics)

Yes. The "Twelve Days" are the days after Christmas, leading up to Epiphany. Note that Christmas itself isn't one of the twelve days; it is the twelve days *after* Christmas that count! There were once traditions associated with each of the twelve days; I recommend reading John Matthew's "The Winter Solstice: The Sacred Traditions of Christmas" for details on those traditions.
You will sometimes read that the Twelve Days count Christmas, but NOT Epiphany; as evidence, it will be offered that the night of January 5 is called "Twelfth Night." This is both accurate and inaccurate, and to understand it, you must know the following:
In ancient English tradition, DAYS and NIGHTS were recorded separately. That is, what we call "Monday" ("monandaeg" in Anglo-Saxon) ended at sundown,a nd what we call "Monday night" was actually, literally, "Mon-night" (monannicht in A-S).
What does this mean? The "Twelve" count begins on *Christmas night,* which is the "first night." The next day, December 26, is the "first day;" the night of December 2h the "second night," and so on. So the eve of January 5 *is* Twelfth Night, and the day of January 6 is the Twelfth Day of Christmas.
It is sometimes claimed that the Twelve Days correspond to a scattered number of important Christian days in December and January, including St. Nicholas Day on December 6th, but this is wrong.
Also wrong is the myth that the 'Twelve Days of Christmas" is somehow a coded Catholic catechism. Evidence against this can be found on the Snopes website.

The song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" has everything to do with the Christian tradition of Epiphany. Some modern Christians have even associated each gift with a symbolic of a Christian tradition: True love is symbolic of God. The partridge in the pear tree is a symbol of Jesus. The pear tree is the symbol of the salvation of man, just as the fruit tree in the garden of Eden symbolized the downfall of man. [2?] Three French hens are the symbol of faith, hope and love. The four calling birds are symbolic of the four Gospel writers. [5?] Six geese a laying represent the 6 days of creation. 7 swans a swimming - the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit. [8 and 9?] Ten lords a leaping -- the 10 commandments. [11?] 12 drummers -- the 12 tribes of Israel or the 12 Apostles. The number 12 also represents completion and fullness.
There is no accurate evidence that the song originally held such meanings, but it's wonderful that modern Christians have been able to interpret the song so!
