GooD Luck ;]A GPA is a acronym for Grade Point Average. It is a number though 0.0 - 4.0, lowest and highest respectively. However there is a 5.0 scale. This is for honors classes.
An A = 4.0 on the regular scale and a 5.0 on the Honors scale.
A B = 3.0 on the regular scale and a 4.0 (A) on the Honors scale.
A C = 2.0 on the regular scale and a 3.0 (B) on the Honors scale.
A D = 1.0 on the regular scale and a 2.0 (C) on the Honors scale.
A F = 0.0 on the regular scale and a 1.0 on the Honors scale.
A GPA is used to determine your eligibility for certain Scholarships towards paying for college. It is also used to determine your class rank (i.e Valedictorian, Salutitorian).
Well 2.0 is average, and most prestigious college programs require a minimum of a 3.0 so you can gauge for yourself.

What does a 3.4 GPA convert to in ACT score?
GPAs and ACT scores are not equivalent--students with high GPAs often do poorly on the ACT and vice-versa. Your score depends on your test-taking ability and your preparedness--the ACT is a very different type of test from the ones you normally see in school.
What grade does a 340 out of 400 equal?
A score of 340 out of 400 can be converted to a percentage by dividing 340 by 400 and then multiplying by 100. This gives us 85%. In most grading systems, an 85% would typically correspond to a B grade.

What is a good GPA for hotel management in Switzerland?
as a 23-year old hotel manager in Luganne, Switzerland, I have not met many fellow manager's with American GPA's. I am from Manhattan, my mom is originally from Zurich, and I moved here just last year. I accumulated a 4.02 GPA is high school, and i think that's around the avg for an American hotel manager in Swizerland around here. However, the competition is so fierce, that you should certainly strive for a higher echelon of grades. 4.1 I think should suffice for a lower-tier hotel management job in Luganne, but if your GPA is between 3.9 and 4.1, you should try applying for a hotel management job on the outskirts of Basel, where they are more accepting of less academically amazing Americans (Swiss generally resent Americans as uncultured, etc., so they are strict about giving relatively high jobs to Americans.)
Does eighth grade classes affect your GPA?

Do better in 10th, focus extra hard on your 11th and 12th grade GPA. Then you should be fine. If the grades are still lower than you desired, consider a Community College for the first two years of college then transfer to a "supergood" university. You improved and colleges look at that. Maybe not a supergood college but a good one. As long as you get excellent (and we're talking 4.0's) grades after 9th grade, your chances should not be lower than any other 4.0 student, as long as you are strong in the rest of your application. Answer As long as you do well in 10th, 11th and 12th grade you should be okay. Colleges like to see improvement in grades.
