Is a 2.5 GPA good enough to get into a decent college?

Depends on the definition of "decent college". There are also many other factors to consider. Extra curriculars, leadership roles, important achievements, SAT, SAT II to name a few. But soley based on GPA, i would say that a college like binghamton or stonybrook (SUNY) might accept you.

A lot of state collage will accept you i had 2.2 and went to ASU best years of my life and now i m making 100000$ year and doing the job i always wanted . I had bad grades and bad ast but I worked my self up in 6 years.

I worked in company right after collage because i knew a friend there and i worked my self from bottom. I doesn't depend on collage so much but on your skills .

My friend had 2.5 GPA and got Berkley because he had leadership extra stuff and mensa mebership(IQ above 141). point is to say in you application why u have bad grades and imprese them with something. U were slacking in high school if u want decent collage u need to start working and your gona make it!

PS:(send your application to as many collages you can)

To get into Dental School would a 3.88 GPA get you in?

Anything is possible. It would help knowing your GPA. But your GPA isn't the only thing dental schools take in to consideration. If you have a low GPA, you'll want to score high on your DAT (Dental Admissions Test). Another thing they will take into consideration, is if you had a job, extra curriculars etc. It will help if you've worked in a dental office to show that you already have a head start on some medical knowledge in the field.

If you don't get high scores on your DAT and don't get into dental school, I suggest applying for grad school and taking some extra science classes to bring up your GPA.

Speaking of science classes, dental schools will look at two different GPA's; your overall GPA and your Science GPA. you science GPA is actually much more important than your overall, although your overall is still very important. But with a heavy emphasis on science, they want your science GPA to be strong.

You will also want to write a very strong essay to the schools you apply to. This can be your "make or break". Your essay allows the school to get to know you on a somewhat personal level. With great luck, they want to set up an interview with you. If you're lucky enough to get an interview, then they are considering you, which is awesome news! You REALLY want to nail the interview. Make them remember you. It will make all the difference in the world.

Best of luck!

What GPA and ACT or SAT scores are required by a college like Northwestern University?

Check this out. The scores of the students are laid out towards the bottom. It seems like if you're over 600 in math and verbal on the SAT and over 24 on the ACT, you're within the range. I was looking for the same thing and whew! I'm safe. Obviously, that's no guarantee.

How do i get into college for a bachelor's degree if i got academic dismissal for not having a GPA of 2.0?

You have given no information in regards to where you were dismissed from. If you were dismissed from a community college, you will be required to sit out one semester before returning. However, I would strongly recommend that you identify the reasons for your current academic performance and take the appropriate measures to improve your performance. In most all cases, it has nothing to do with an inability to do well. It has to do with a lack of willingness, passion for what you do, discouragement, and any number of issues. You can perform well! It's 10% aptitude, 100% attitude. To need to find a vision; A clearly articulated picture of the future you intend to create for yourself. It's a dream! After you acquire this dream you will then need to develop a road map marked with short-term goals and objectives leading to your overall goal and objective (your dream). I would urge you to meet with a career advisor who can help you identify your strengths, identify your weaknesses, research the opportunities that are out there, and also identify any threats that would interfere with you achieving your dream. You can do this, but you are the one who must take action. If you give it 100% commitment, you can achieve just about anything you want to do! Best wishes!!

When did schools start requiring a standard GPA to play sports?

A GPA is required for the simple reason of graduating. It makes sense that schools want a passing grade so then ones priorities will be settled. Think of sports as a secondary and school as a primary. Either way it will benefit you even if you dont feel like it is.
