Most likely, you can not transfer credit from a community college to a prestigious ivy league school like Harvard or Yale regardless of GPA because they want you to complete four years at their university.
To be perfectly honest the colleges will want to know why your GPA is a 3.4 but your SATs to high. To them, that may show that you are a really good test taker, but your grades do not live up to them. If you are taking a rigorous class schedule than you should have a good chance, is that GPA weighted?
yea the GPA is weighted. and yea i definitly took all the ap classes offered so far, like even the hard ones; ap stat, ap calc bc, etc. so yea i took all the ap classes possibly offered at my school
What GPA did you have when you got into Indiana university Purdue university Indianapolis?
I just got accepted into Purdue and Indiana University Bloomington and I have an unweighted GPA of 3.54 and rising. However, GPA is not everything a college looks at; if you play sports or are involved in clubs and wrote a well written essay you could still be accepted with a lower GPA.
Is the cumalative GPA accepted for college?
Colleges look at it to see if you meet the requirements (which depending on the school your looking at could have more requirements like writing a essay, submitting a security deposit if your going to be staying in a dorm, ACT/SAT scores etc.)to get into there school. University's want higher GPA and their GPA depends if you are in a different college and are transferring to there school and if your just getting out of High School.
What would my GPA be if I received B's and C's for two years?
to figure out your GPA use the following method:
4 points for an A
3 points for a B
2 points for a C
1 points for a D
0 point for a F
add the total up and divide it by the number of classes you have
(pass or fail scoring does not count)
It depends on your GPA to begin with. In general it will drop them, unless you have failed everything else.
A 3.28 GPA is pretty good. That would mean you have mostly A's and B's, and possibly a D. However, if you want to go to any Ivy League School, such as Yale, Harvard or Princeton University, you should aim for a GPA of 4.0 or higher. In order to obtain a 4.0 or higher, you need to take AP classes, and earn A's as you grade.
Can you get into a Maryland university with a low GPA?
The University of Maryland typically requires a high grade point average to attend their school. On average, their students scored a 3.5 GPA in high school.
Relax Colleges care a lot about your grades in 10th grade up. Aim to take more AP classes and get involved in extracurricular activities. Colleges want at least 1 sport or 3 activities.
If that 3.6 is an unweighted GPA, it looks like you have a good shot. Academically speaking, your GPA isn't exactly on par with the average Stanford student, but being a nationally ranked squash player can definitely help you stand out in the admissions process.
Unfortunately, being starting high school quarterback, while a terrific accomplishment in itself that you should be very proud of and (by all means) should put it down on your Stanford app, won't really help you stand out unless you are being SPECIFICALLY recruited by Stanford to play football. Stanford's athletic program is excellent; they have won numerous championships/ made numerous appearances at the Rose Bowl throughout the years and twelve alums are currently playing for the NFL. To become a recruit your high school team must have won State Championships, be nationally ranked, etc. If you are interested in being recruited or think you can be, try setting up a free profile at BeRecruited.com. This will let you get a lot of exposure to different coaches/ schools, even if it's not Stanford.
It sounds like you have the beginnings of a really great application to Stanford. They look for passion in extracurriculars, which you have in athletics, so that's a great start. They also look for intellectual vitality-- it is their most important factor in admissions-- how do you think, analyze, etc.? Make sure you dedicate yourself to your essays and let your voice shine through.
Unfortunately, plenty of applicants with 4.0+ GPAs, 2300+ SAT scores, and awesome extracurriculars are turned down by Stanford every year. With 35,000+ apps and space for a freshman class of only a couple thousand, competition is stiff. The Class of 2013 faced a daunting admissions rate of only 7.6%. So even with your squash rankings and football talent, you cannot be guaranteed admission.
Do what you can: Invest time in what you love, focus on your GPA, challenge yourself with AP/Honors classes to get that GPA up!! I'd say you have a shot at Stanford, just like anyone else-- if it happens, that's wonderful, but if not, there are so many other terrific schools that would love to have you attend. Good luck.

Your chances will hinge mostly on your class rank, not your absolute GPA or even your ACT scores (although you want to have a score above 25) ... at some high schools, a 3.6 may be in the top 1% but at other places a 3.6 may be just a bit above average.
Keep you sights on 3.8 and above and a 2100 or better. But don't confuse Cal States and UCs they're two separate public university systems, UCs are much harder to get into then Cal States. Berkeley's a UC, Northridge is a Cal State, you can get in to a Cal State with a 3.0 or less, especially if your a CA resident.
What is the average GPA of a homeschooler?
As a graduate of a homeschool program (American School, which is accreditted regionally)I can say that it depends on the individual student, just as in public and private school. Your GPA is reflected by how much time, effort, thought, and meaning you put into your studies. In order to compare the GPA of homeschoolers with that of public and private school children you would need to compare the GPA of students putting the same time, effort, thought, and meaning into their studies.
Is a 3.49 gpa rounded up to a 3.5?
Not that I'm aware of. Schools would round up or down the third number (such as 3.493 would be rounded down to 3.49, and 3.496 would be rounded up to 3.50)
Your best, and maybe only hope, is to enroll in a community college for a year to show the admissions academics that the worm has turned and that you really have changed and deserve a chance. Easy courses and a light load won't make an impression on them. They have seen it all. Show them that you have what it takes.
