I'm not sure how it would be different than appearing to be your funds being used. If you went there and they gave it to you, and you used it here...even if you had them send it to you as they help with your affairs from there, it wouldn't be taxable income to you.

The foreign country will check your passport, and the US will check your green card.

You need to seek legal advice because of the child. If your husband has been visiting the child, then he still has a right to see him/her. I have more of a comment: I noticed in my research that it seems harder for a person who was brought here as a child when they had no say than for and adult who is here illegally. Why are there more ways for a CAnadian to be here legally than a Mexican national. Especially, ones brought here as children.

USCIS has proposed a rule requiring replacement of Green Cards that do not have an expiration date, but that rule still has not been made into law. On Dec 11 2007 USCIS issued this stmt: "Despite rumors to the contrary, 'green cards' (I-551) with no expiration dates are still valid, and lawful permanent residents carrying those cards will continue to receive all appropriate benefits. These cards will remain valid until the implementation of the final rule addressing this issue."
