It's unlikely that HDMI based video will work with a DisplayPort input. Although DisplayPort can be connected to an HDMI input with a passive adaptor, DisplayPort does not support broadcast color space such as YUV. HDMI can accept and display the RGB format used by DisplayPort but DisplayPort cannot handle YUV which is typically output from a Bluray player.
DisplayPort is an emerging standard and during the time it is being implemented, there will be numerous practical adaptations to the capabilities of DisplayPort. For that reason, this answer may not be valid in the future. Indeed, it is likely that there are already products that can handle YUV so the only sure way to find out if it works is to try it.
You buyed a receiver with HDMI- output is it possible to connect it to a laptop?
At the time of writing, there is no commercially available HDMI input to a computer due to copy protection issues. HDMI is designed to support copy protection and it is very unlikely that there will be licenses issued to allow HDMI inputs to computers.
How do you hook up HDMI cable for surround sound system?
You will need:
A stereo amplifier
Speakers
An optical audio cable
1) Connect the HDMI cable from whatever you are trying to hook up (Virgin Box, Blu-ray player, PS3, Xbox 360) into the back of your television.
2) Connect the optical audio cable from the back of your television to the slot on your stereo amplifier.
3) Your amplifier should be connected to the speakers. If it isn't, do so (it should be covered in the manual)
4) You may need to configure Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound for it to work.
5) Ensure the amplifier is turned on.
Alternatively, you could connect your optical audio cable directly from what you are trying to rig up to the stereo. Either way should work.
I hope that helped.
How do you connect stereo to plasma TV?
the best ways is to get a analog audio cable. Its preaty cheap like 10-15$.
I have mine connected to the the like that and works just fine
hope this answers your question. :)
Depending on your TV and stereo you may have digital audio inputs on your stereo and outputs (of course) on your TV: optical or coaxial. A fiber optic cable between the two being best.
Is a dynamic contrast ratio of 1000000 to 1 better than a static contrast ratio of 20000 to 1?
Contrast ratios on televisions screens get better and better with each model that comes out. Unfortunately, there are many ways of measuring contrast ratios and claims of ratios like 1,000,000:1 are using some very creative measurement techniques indeed.
Contrast ratios are affected by many factors including ambient light levels, image content, production techniques during editing and more. While a high contrast ratio suggests that you will see whiter whites and even blacker blacks, the numbers really don't mean a great deal compared to your own eyes. Before buying, make sure you look at televisions and decide for yourself just how white and how black the image gets. More importantly, look for detail in the very light and very dark parts of the image. Rich blacks with some detail in the darker areas is good and the same for very light detail. Your own viewing will give you a far better comparison between two screens than the numbers ever can.
Here are some Samsung TV remote codes. 009, 0060, 0702, 0030, 0178, 0812, 0019, 0056, 0587, 0556, these codes will work for all Samsung TV's.
Where is the westinghouse headquarters?
The new headquarters will now be in Cranberry, PA. Approx 40 Minutes north of Pittsburgh
Our 50 inch Samsung Plasma was just picked up for warranty repair. They loaded it face down on foam in the back of a pick up truck. We had heard the same stories about you shouldn't lay them down because of the gases, etc. They told us that was a myth. They said this was the way they always transported them. We called the number in our manual to tell them and they also assured us it was a myth, that they could be transported on face down as long as it was on foam and strapped down.
You cannot connect a HDMI to a VGA video output on a computer. VGA is an analog signal and the DVI adapter connects it to the analog pins on the DVI cable (a DVI-I cable has both analog and digital pins). A HDMI to DVI cable connects to the cable's digital pins, therefore, no connection is being made. The easiest way to do this is to upgrade your computer's video card to one with a HDMI output. These can be purchased for less than $50.00, and will allow you to connect your computer to your TV with one cable and no adapters.
Can i use last years Samsung 3d glasses with this years Samsung 3d tv's?
Possibly. I would take the glasses to a TV store and try them. Samsung changed their 3d sync technology last year, so it may not work.
What size to mount westinghouse 32 inch lcd tv?
Because of liability concerns, most manufacturers do not provide specifications on the size of screws or mounting instructions for their televisions. Virtually all TV wall mounts come with a large assortment of screws to fit all TVs with standard VESA mounts. A 32-inch TV will use a M6 (6mm metric) or M8 (8mm metric) screw. The mount will have these screws in various lengths. When you get the mount, use the longest screw possible that you can tighten by hand to hold the bracket to the back of the TV. Do not over-tighten, as you may damage circuit boards or even the LCD panel itself.
Is there adapters for component cables to HDMI cables?
Analog component signals are completely different to digital HDMI. There is no simple adaptor cable because the analog signals require processing to convert to digital. There are converter units that will perform the processing as dedicated converters but it may also be possible to use other equipment such as DVD recorders. Many have analog inputs with an HDMI output and it is often possible to route a signal straight through the unit.
Converting from HDMI to analog component is rather harder. In fact it is not possible to do it using authorized hardware. HDMI uses a copy protection system known as HDCP which encodes the signal. Converting that HDMI signal to analog removes the copy protection and no legitimate devices are available that will remove copy protection. There are some exceptions to the HDCP system, mostly for non commercial content but in these cases, there are normally easier ways to obtain analog copies.
There are a handful of unauthorized converters but be warned that even if they operate now, they can be disabled if they are known to be unlicensed devices.
I don't know about the truthfulness or accuracy of the above information , but a PS3 has an HDMI input and does have optional cables that have a component connection at the HDTV side and a HDMI connection on the other side. They ran about $30 and are designed to connect a PS3 to a HDTV with component cables and may work for your connection
What is an enhanced-definition TV?
It is a TV that will produce better detail than a standard TV but no where near the detail of a true HDTV. This type will make a noticeably better picture when connected with the component cables, otherwise it may look no better than a standard TV.
Well yes and no. HDMI refers to a type of connection. A high definition signal can be transferred through HDMI. There are basically 8 types of connectors:RF (Radio Frequency),Composite Video,S-Video,Component Video,D-Sub, DVI, HDMI, and IEEE 1394. RF is the old type that screws into the TV. Composite is the traditional yellow plug with a 480i max resolution. S-Video is a multi prong round connector with a max res of 480i. Component Video has three connectors that look like the composite except they are green, blue, and red with a max res of 1080i.D-Sub is the classic blue computer monitor connector and it supports 1080p. All of the previous are analog. All of the following are digital. DVI is the more recent white computer monitor connector that supports 1080p. HDMI looks like a flatter usb that supports 1080p and digital surround sound. IEEE 1394 is a square connector that, for all normal applications, is the same as HDMI.
How do you weatherproof a flat screen tv?
Although there are a few TV screens that have weatherproofing kits, they tend to be very expensive to buy and to fit. The other method is to build an enclosure to protect the screen from water damage.
A housing of marine plywood is a good start, with a safety glass aperture for the display. The television will generate heat so it is vital that air can move through the enclosure to keep it cooled. The ventilation holes need to be weatherproof as well of course.
Remember that the enclosure must be substantial enough to support the television and must itself be properly supported.
Does xbox 360 slim use pal or ntsc?
That probably depends on where you purchase it.
North America mainly uses NTSC, while other countries use PAL, most media players can decode either, and xbox can usually do so as well. All it is is a type of video frame encoding which isn't too bad to media players at most times.

How do you get HDMI on your logik lcx17ln2?
You don't. This model doesn't have HDMI. It does have an old SCART connector if your equipment has that type of connector.
You'll need a receiver with at least 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output, as well as an HD-capable cable box. Connect the XBOX and the cable box to the receiver with the HDMI cables, and then plug the HDMI output on the receiver to the TV.
What size screw do you use to mount a samsung led tv 55 inch 7000 series?
Because of liability concerns, most manufacturers do not provide specifications on the size of screws or mounting instructions for their televisions. Virtually all TV wall mounts come with a large assortment of screws to fit all TVs with standard VESA mounts. A 55-inch TV will use a M6 (6mm metric) or M8 (8mm metric) screw. The mount will have these screws in various lengths. When you get the mount, use the longest screw possible that you can tighten by hand to hold the bracket to the back of the TV. Do not over-tighten, as you may damage circuit boards or even the LCD panel itself.
What speakers are suitable for connecting to a TV?
To be perfectly technical, none. :D
Okay, this may sound wery 'what the hell?'ish. In practice, the TV puts out the amplified signal into its speakers, and if it has an audio-out jack/2xRCA, that output is signal-level, which is to say, NOT amplified.
So, long story short - you need an amplifier to go with the speakers. Otherwise the signal would be so small that you wouldn't hear anything! But this simplifies things considerably: sets of amplifier+speakers are available in almost every major electronics/RTV store, and they're pretty much guaranteed to work with signal-level input (that's what design standards are for). So go ahead and buy a set of speakers with a matching amplifier, and it should work like a charm.
Since broadcasting How far have tv signals gone into space?
The world has been broadcasting TV signals since the 1920s. That has given the earliest signals about 80 years to travel away from earth, so that means they have travelled up to 80 light years. That is about 500,000,000,000,000 miles (give or take a few million miles).
That radius is enough to encompass up to 100 stars so the signals will have passed quite a few planets so far. By the time the signals reach these planets, the signals are probably far too weak to be detected above the radio noise of the universe so it is unlikely that any other life forms are watching our television programs from decades ago
What is a optical audio cable used for?
An optical audio cable is used to transmit digital audio (AC-3) signal from the source to the receiver, such as from a DVD player to a digital audio amplifier/receiver. You can transmit 5.1 dolby digital or DTS surround sound with an optical audio cable, same as digital coaxial audio cable.
