Unfortunately you can't. VGA is an analog signal whereas HDMI is purely a digital signal. There are several ways to connect the two:

First, many televisions have component inputs that will accept an VGA signal. If it does accept VGA, there will be 5 connectors marked R,G,B,H,V. An adaptor cable can be purchased to connect a 15pin HD connector to the separate connections. Take a few minutes to read the manual for the television to see if the connections are available.

Next, there are USB based video displays that can be connected to a laptop to provide an additional display output. Select one that offers either an HDMI output or a DVI output. You can walk around a Costco or TV retail store and compare Samsung TVs to similarly featured Toshibas or Sonys and 11 times out of 10, the Samsung will be more expensive, even though the specs will be the exact same on all of the TVs. First of all, the picture just looks better. But we had to find out why. It seems Samsung has a proprietary technology copywritten as to the placement of its side light bulbs, the bulbs that give top notch HD pictures their brighter, but not glare-y, appearance. It seems that no other company is allowed to put their bulbs there.

The cheap brands such as LG and Vizio will work in the cinema but when you are given glasses every time you visit the theater, why would you want to?
