the long bolts are 46 ftlbs and the short bolts are 42 ft lbs and and u have to tighten in a ssquence to get it rigth and the the end durn every bolt 90 degress more thts wut it says

because the warming of the engine causes condensation. and as it warms further the condensation in the motor and exhaust system become warmed into steam until it gets hot all the way through and thus stops because it is not condensating anymore.

Not unusual for these to get just over the 100 at idle.

As long as the radiator fan cuts in there not normally a reason to worry

An engine might sound like a diesel at operating temperature if the engine was a diesel or if there was an issue with the manifold. Sometimes gases escaping the manifold cover could cause the engine to sound different.

do you mean "why do lifters go bad"?
Well over reeving an engine can kill a lifter. Its a ticking that sticks around usually in between a certain rpm and load.
Some times lifters can gum up and prevent a check ball from seating. this is usually apparent when the lifter makes constant noise of noise just when the engine is cold. A fix for this is using a detergent of some sort like ATF or Sea Foam.

STEP 1: 168 in-lbs (i.e. 14 ft lbs)

STEP 2: Then turn the bolts an additional 30 degrees (which can be approximated by turning your ratchet from noon to 1 o'clock (i.e. a 1/12 of a full turn)

if its found early you might get away with just replacing the gasket, it could warp the head and will need a skim if an engine is run with a shot gasket you could seize the engine and the only remedy is a replacement, if its a banger and not economical to repair (labour costs ect..) sell as spare or repair and it will give you a few ££ towards your next car

the valve clearance is EX .013" and IN .006" You have to remove the body covers and fuel tank. you can use the pull start cord and slowly pull it until you can feel it go on to compression remove the spark plug and put a blunt shaft down the cyl don't drop it in, you should feel the piston at TDC, Now you can set the 4 valve clearances.

The book way is to remove the fly wheel plug on the RH side next to the pull cord (chrome plug with a hex head in it) remove the valve covers and watch the intake valve ( closest one to the carby) go down then up by pulling the pull cord slowly as it comes to a stop (up) look in the hole next to the fly wheel and you will see a "T" mark on the fly wheel when you see that the engine is at TDC. Dont use the "F" mark.

A faulty head gasket will cause power loss, coolant to mix with oil, and is a costly repair. Excessive heat is the primary cause for their failure.

This is a common problem for all Saturn S-Series 2000-2002. The plastic intake manifold cracks at the coolant stems, even if the engine does not overheat. This is especially true in the southern half of the US (hotter climate). The intake manifold would need to be replaced, or repaired so no further damage will occur like overheating the engine.

The instructions come with the product. It is recommended you use one cup of antifreeze and the rest distilled water until the winter then you can flush it and winterize the car to the recommended specifications on your vehicle.

if it is busted near a water jacket then serious. if between cylinders or on the edge of a cylinder, then you just lose power.

This product is good and does work. You must follow the directions .
In July 2009 our 2000 Malibu V-6 began to overheat in Naperville, Ill. We were on our way home to Scottsdale Az .It was towed to a Pep Boy's where after $50 inspection we were told it needed both head gaskets and heads shaved! 3 days for repairs and $2500 estimate! I looked on the shelf and found a bottle of KW Nanotechnology head gasket sealer for $20 bought it while the mechanics all snickered at me and proceeded to pour it in the car in their parking lot. We headed back to our daughters home approx 6 miles away and I noticed the Temp needle was dropping down to normal range! Next morning we said "what the hell" let's head for AZ and see how far we get! It's now July7, 2010 and 4000+ miles later (including a trip down to Mexico) the car runs like a dream A/C on constantly! This stuff works Big Time! I don't travel without a bottle in the trunk! First off, no way could anyone tell you that you needed both heads shaved without removing the heads and having them inspected. They might be perfectly fine or may need work. Secondly, these type products are used as an emergency repair and are not permanent no matter what they claim. Thirdly these type products can clog the radiator, heater core, and coolant passages within the engine. You may drive the car for a few thousand mile but in the end You will have the replace the head gaskets. You are just postponing the inevitable and may end up doing more damage. Have it done right and do not use any of these type products.

is it just residue from where the gasket is gone?, if not there is a possibility that the head is cracked, was the head checked to make sure it was not warped? and pressure tested?, also you might have an additional problem, radiator blockage,thermostat stuck or if its the k series the dreaded ballbearing problem, each of these could cause the gasket to go again
