How much does a used marlin 30-30 rifle cost?

A gun (or any item for sale) is worth what a buyer is willing to give for it, if that price is high enough for the seller to accept the offer. I bought a 30A today (7/1/06) for $290 "out-the-door". It was made in 1974. I'm not an expert grader but, this gun appears to be in at least 95% mint condition and came with a scope mount base and hammer extension.

What is the difference between hunting deer and hunting elephants in Africa?

The difference between hunting deer and hunting elephants is overall

1) elephants are poached more and there are fewer of them

2) elephants are a keystone species and thus are more important to their own ecosystem then deer; meaning that if their population decreases it will create a greater impact than a decrease in deer population.

There are also other reason like for instance they are two different species, but basically that's it.

How do you kill a wild boar?

We used corn on trails but stayed at least 100 yards down wind of them. They would pop out of the thick brush to eat the corn a the wide open trails giving us a clean shot. Another way is to ferment the corn so it smells. Put it in a bucket with some water and let it sit until you get a fermenting smell. I never tried adding yeast but it might speed things up. Dig a hole or two with a post hole digger and pour in the corn. The holes are so they take time to get the food. Get back the 100 yards same as above. We also added overripe fruit. It usually takes a day for them to find it so I set up on the second day or night.

Why do some people hate hunting?

Its not the actual hunting part. I mean how else are you going to get your ham or chicken patty? People just hate the fact that so many people are hunting for no reason and just for sport. The animal deserves a life not just to be killed for fun.

Do you have to shoot sabot slugs through a rifled slug barrel?

In general, rifled slugs are intended to go through a smooth bore. The twist rates of a rifled slug against a rifled barrel may not agree.

If you were trying to get the best out of your rifled barrel I would think that going to a saboted slug would give better performance.

Will a pellet gun kill a crane?

it depends what kind of gun you have, the average air rifle will kill a raccoon at its biggest if you area a good shot. but if u want to kill a pig which are tough animals you may need a big bore air rifle quackenbush makes good ones they can even take down deer.

Extremely unlikely You will just anger the pig.

If you are talking about a hand "air gun" Then most likely "NO" because the pellets only come in .177 .22 and .25 cal. Now if you are talking about an air rifle, then it is possible but you are looking at a high end air rifles in the PCP class of air rifles. The PCP's (Precharged Pneumatic Guns/Rifles) use a scuba tank to charge them and can fire a pellet as large as 9mm, 45 and 50 Cal. These will bring down a boar, deer or moose. An example is the "Dragon Slayer" by Shin Sung. ( See: the link below.) There are quite a few makers of large bore air rifles on the market today. ( See link 2 Below.) and ( See link 3 Below) are but a few of the places that you can purchase them.

BTW Quackenbush made a 50CAL that is considered the rifle that all other PCP's are measured against. It was named the .457 Outlaw Long Action.

What is the best rifle scope for shooting at 500 yards with low light?

The best that you can afford! I would advise you to try different scopes for the clarity and workmanship and decide for yourself.I have always made a promise to myself that when you pay good money for a rifle capable of shooting that distance accurately why go cheap on a scope. Most of the european made scopes with a 30mm scope tube diameter will give excellent light gathering.Zeiss, schmidt & Bender, swarovski,Meopta, are some prime examples.American made scopes of quality are Leupold,Burris, etc.I would say that the power of your scope does not need to exceed 14x.So a nice 4x-14xpower scope should do you just fine. The bigger the object lenses the more visability at low light.I would suggest a 44mm,or at most a 50mm objective. The nice thing is a European scope with the tube diameter of 30mm will gather more light without having to exceed a 44mm objective lens, which puts the scope closer to the barrel of your rifle.Good luck!

How do you load buckshot only into a 69 cal smooth-bore musket?

The easiest way would be to load powder, cover with a patch or small card, load shot, and cover again. Or you could make a cartridge with buckshot in the end, and ram the whole lot down after pouring the powder down.

Can you shoot a slug through a Browning A 500?

Yes. Slugs can be fired in any modern shotgun. It is best to use an improved cylinder barrel. Modified and full chokes are usually not as accurate, and too many slugs can cause them to pattern poorly with shot loads, although it is perfectly safe to use them.

Can you shoot a slug with an 870 that has a modified choke on it?

Yes: A Remington 870 shotgun with a modified choke will shoot any commercial shotgun slug.

Why should people stop fox hunting?

The fox is at the top of the food chain, this means it has no predators and as a result, no natural way of keeping the fox population healthy and thriving. Foxhunting is a humane way of natural selection where weak and old foxes are humanely culled resulting in a strong and healthy fox population without disease. Without fox hunting the fox population would not be a healthy one prone to disease and the lack of management could lead to disastrous consequences.
