-Here's the catch, the yellow has 10mg of hydrocodone but is long acting so is released slowly, and doesnt hit you rapidly.
The red has only 5mg of hydrocodone but is instant release so has a rapid onset. Though less potent
Consering these facts Yellow and Red are about equal in effects and either one is strong in its own way. So you get get either of these colors you got what you neeed. I tried both and I would go with the yellow.

Yes, both will show up as opiates on a urine drug test.

They can't test urine for the age of the person who expelled it at all. They don't test for gender, but that's pretty easy to do--screw on the lid and shake, and if it doesn't foam it's a woman's urine.

Seek a straight friend that you trust and get their take on your behaviour and actions. Listen to them.

I had this exact issue come up last year. I told the doctor that I had taken 2 vicodin the night before for my shoulder and asked m Doctor if it would affect my choleterol test, he said no. I have high cholesterol anyways and it was no different this time so I can't tell you whether it scewed my test results as all. He did say no though. Hope this helps.
