Are lion and hyena an example of commensalism?
No, not at all. Commensalism means the two species live alongside each other without helping, or harming.
Lions and hyenas actively compete for prey, and will kill each other, kill each other's cubs, steal killed prey, etc.
no
They will eat the dead and dying one's.
Actually, hyenas have proven to be better predators than lions are. The old belief that they were strictly scavenders was based on biased observations. Lions often kill hyenas, and a pack of hyenas have killed isolated lions and cubs, but hyenas do not hunt lions regularly.
only dead ones, or possibly a very young leopard if they can catch one
Yes, the hyena is primarily a carnivorous animal, feeding on a diet of meat from other animals. However, hyenas are opportunistic feeders and may also scavenge for plant material or insects when necessary.
There are a few individuals of many breeds that can climb trees, but as a whole most dogs cannot. Exceptions to this rule include the Catahoula Leopard Dog, the Tree Walking Coonhound, Jack Russell Terrier, and the New Guinea Singing Dog. Most dogs cannot get a good grip on tree bark in order to dig their claws into it, so people sometimes train their pets to get a running start and jump onto trees. Grey foxes, although not technically dog, can also climb trees.
Difference between North Africa and sub saharan Africa?
There are many differences between Sub Saharan and Northern Africa.
For example, there are more jungles and bodies of water in the Sub Saharan, while Northern Africa is mostly covered by the Sahara desert.
Different African tribes are in each section of Africa and religions can be different too.
Different languages are spoken.
Why do female hyenas lead the pack and not the males?
The female spotted hyena is considerably bigger and stronger than the male, which is why the females run the hyena 'clans'.

What does a pitbull and hyena have in common?
They are both carnivores. They pretty much have nothing else in common. Pitbull is a dog and a hyena is more closely related to mongoose and cats. They both originated in separate parts of the planet, they have different lifestyles, they have different physiology and one is domesticated and the other wild
Do hyenas live in groups or alone?
Of course they travel in groups. They gotta satisfy their hormonal needs and they can't do it alone like humans can!
What are the hobbies for hyenas?
Hunting...breeding...and beating up on the males in the pack....messing with lions
Who would win a fight a cheetah or a hyena only?
Most likely a hyena. Cheetahs a built for speed, not fighting. And hyenas have nasty powerful jaws that could easily tear into the Cheetah. Also hyenas hunt in packs, so one hyena and one cheetah would probably never face off.
Is a rottweiler bite pressure harder than a hyena?
No. Hyena is c.3,000lb per sq.in of pressure, dog is about 800. Wolf is 1,500 I think
Its funny that a 30 pounder can take on a 100 pounder in a fight but it looks true. Honey Badgers are nasty fighters and most tough predators like Hyenas, leopards, and tigers avoid HB confrontations. HBs have very tough skin and would require the Hyena to put in alot of effort to penetrate , leaving it open to a nasty exchange by the HB. The skin is tough and flexible so that even if it was bitten from behind the HB can still turn its head to get you. Young inexperienced predators learn this the hard way when they mistake a little HB as easy dinner. There is a youtube clip of a leopard killing an old slow blind HB and it literally took hrs for that to happen. There is a published fight between a lion and a HB which ended in a draw. The mother lioness was desperate for food and attacked the HB. Both suffered nasty wounds with the Lioness eventually let go of its grip , resulting in both going their seperate ways. The HB was later seen resting , bleeding from his head. While the lion had slashes all over her body.
So to answer your question there is no clear winner. Both species respect each other enough to get out of a fight if possible. All I am saying is documented and not based on favortism,, just look it up.
Hyenas are mostly scavengers, they usually follow around lions or other strong predators to eat leftovers, they are cowardly but i am pretty sure if provoked they MAY attack.
