But with those cases we really don't know 100% what they suffered through.

Ibuprofen has formula C13H18O2. Therefore, it has no sodium.

Acetaminophen is the drug in the brand "Tylenol". It is often combined with Codeine as "Tylenol #3", etc. Codeine is an ineffective pain-reliever according to the latest medical literature.

Acetaminophen is processed by the liver, so anything else you might take that is metabolized/processed/broken-down in the liver risks liver damage. That is why there are prescribed limits to the number and frequency of pain-pill doses you should take.

Alcohol - even that found in cough syrup - has been shown to increase the extent of liver stress/damage exponentially - when taken at or near the same time as acetaminophen.

So, avoid alcohol + acetaminophen and stick to the prescribed dosage of your pain pills. 8 or 10 a day is too many!

New approaches to pain-relief like "targeted-delivery" with topical pain-relief medications put the pain medicine directly on the painful area for fast-relief. Cochrane Reviews says 35 studies showed "Good" pain-relief is easy with topical pain-relief medication - even for back pain.

I also have this problem. I have only been able to take Tylenol (and I have a few T3's hidden away when I REALLY have a problem). I think this is just one of those things we have to deal with when having kidney problems-- I really miss the hot tub!

It acts by preventing Arachadonic acid (AA) from entering the active site and forming PGG2, This is also true for COX2 even though it does allow AA to pass it doesn't form PGG2 instead forming 15-R-HETE.

I'm no doctor but as construction worker for 35 years I've had more than my share of pain. I'm a great believer in asprin as a wonder drug but lately I've added another wonder drug and that is Aleve. Asprin is an antiinflamatory and a pain releiver both of which are associated with tendonitis. It has always worked for me. Aleve is even better but it has a drawback you must take it for a few days before it kicks in because it builds up in the system
