Yes, before, during and after an ice hockey game the ice is cleaned with a special ice resurfacing vehicle known as a Zamboni. The Zamboni works by shaving the surface layer of the ice while simultaneously removing the ice shavings and dispensing hot water. The warm water melts and smooths the layer of ice creating that shiny "clean" surface required for game play.

There was a team called the Minnesota Fighting Saints (played in the WHA) that existed from 1973-77. Other than the Wild or North Stars, the Fighting Saints are the only other team to play in Minnesota and be a member of either the NHL or WHA (later merged with the NHL).

Why do all NHL teams have the same warm up routine?

It keeps everybody organized and moving. Plus everyone ( hockey players ) have the same muscles that need to be stretched and exercised...... plus they have been doing the same routine since they started skating for a team.
