My son who turned 6 on October 27th was tested by his school for entry into Bright Ideas which is a gifted program in our school system here. His IQ was rated 128. By state of Missouri standards he is in 4th grade level reading and 2nd grade math plus they also test other variables (such as creativity) to determine entry into the program and he was accepted. So 128 must be somewhere above the average IQ of a 6 year old.

It depends on what kind of test you took. If it was a genuine IQ test with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children or Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, administered and scored by a trained psychologist, then yes, that is an excellent score.

The general public is strictly prohibited from having access to IQ tests such as the WISC, WAIS, or the Stanford-Binet. And so if you took this test online or obtained it from anywhere other than a psychologist, then it is guaranteed to be fake and your score is meaningless.

Online so-called IQ tests generally have built in positive biases to give the test-taker a very high genius-level score, making them feel good about themselves, and encouraging them to part with their email address or credit card details in return for a "full analysis" that is completely made up.

An IQ score of 147 is classified as very superior intelligence. So it's very good. I'm 13 and I have an IQ of 147 too!

Sorry to be such a terrible spoilsport, but 168 IQ is a bit... well... impossible. No offense, but I Einstein had 160 IQ... which sort of... makes 168 seem a bit, dare I say it... mislead. I wouldn't accuse anyone of cheating, but I suspect whatever IQ test you made was a bit... ehm, how to put this... TOTALLY FUDGED UP. Either that or I really have just insulted a child prodigy more intelligent than Einstein.

No. We are all born with different intelligence, and it isn't something we control, so you are fine no matter what IQ you have. As for an IQ of 148, you are very lucky. An IQ of 100 is considered average.

Some words of caution:

-If you took an online IQ test, even if it's free and claims to be accurate, it probably isn't. There is no telling what the average IQ is on a random test online, it may well be 135. People tend to score higher on online tests than on real ones. -Even if you took a professionally administered test and it is accurate, people only respect intelligent people who are modest as well. People make an impact on the world because they USE their intelligence, not just because they have it. Anyways, it's hardly fair to brag about something you had no control over.

Average IQ is between 80 and 120. If you achieved a score of 131, you have above average intelligence - which is good whether you are 17 or 71.
