Actually no one can answer that where does ( Allah ) the one and only God live because he lives in a place that no man knows and no one can see him till the day of judgement.
The dates of Ramadan are based on the lunar calender which is dependent on the moon so it moves back approximately 9 days every year. The start of Ramadan is when the new moon is sighted for the first time. this year in 2009 it started on the Saturday 22nd of august in Asia and most of Europe - i believe that in America its a day later due to the moon sighting - but am not entirely sure on this. the day before Ramadan starts is called the day of doubt as nobody is sure if it has started or not until they see the sighting of he new moon - it is not allowed to fast on the day of doubt - this is because we need to not be fasting for 'just in case'we are supposed to but to make a good intention to fast - to develop ourselves spiratually and personally during this time.
If you are new to Islam - as I am i think it is quite important to make a Ramadan plan - firstly, we shouldn't set too higher targets as we will fail and then feel guilty which is not in the spirit of the month of Ramadan - we are supposed to be improving and developing ourselves not - feeling bad about ourselves that hinders us from the ultimate aim which is to be closer to god and learn self discipline and reflect.
There is no religious symbol in Islam religion as for example the Cross in Christianity or the David Star in Judaism religions. The claimed Crescent and Star are just historical and/or political symbols developed during the Ottoman empire. Refer to related question below.
Are Sunnis or Shiites more conservative?
Neither. Sunnis and Shiites are different perspectives on Islam, but neither is more liberal than the other (as opposed to Reform vs. Orthodox Judaism). It would be similar to Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity.
The "liberalness" of Sunnis or Shiites is more contingent on the country they live in than which branch of Islam they ascribe to.
Did the prophet Mohammed really exist?
Ebrahim Jasat
As,Muslims we believe in the existence of prophet muhammed s.a.w and he is the founder of the religion of Islam and no other prophet will come.
From Willravel:
If you're looking for direct evidence, I doubt you're going to find anything concrete. There's probably a better case to be made for the existence of Muhammad than there is for, say, Jesus, but it's still going to be difficult because record-keeping was messy in that area at that time. If I had to give an answer, I would say there's not enough evidence to conclude there was a Muhammad, however there may have been such a man. It's highly unlikely, however, that even if he did exist he did most the things attributed to him in the Qur'an, especially those of a supernatural nature (speaking to god, bifurcation of the moon, being really good at absolutely everything he ever did, etc.). That could easily be chalked up to embellishment in oral tradition during the early years of Islam.
There is strictly no judging of a community or individual on this site as it is quite unnecessary. A question like this one is driven through stereotypes and ones ignorance. All communites are equal and there is no deciding upon ones superiority or inferiority.
However, I do suggest that research a bit more and learn about each religion to gain a larger understanding of both cultures and religions which will help you find some common ground; love, compassion humility and forgiveness = GOD

What age can a Muslim boy get married?
A:
The Koran does not mention a specific age, but mentions an age of marriage, generally accepted to be the age of puberty. However, this is subject to the law, as all things are.
Regardless of custom or belief, Muslims are only allowed to get married when they reach the age at which the laws of the national jurisdiction permit marriage. In some Middle Eastern countries that may be no barrier to early marriage, but not so in Western countries. Any purported marriage below the legal age, without court consent, could be considered a crime.
A Muslim man was recently arrested in Australia for entering into a purported marriage with a minor. The marriage was declared void, the girl was provided counselling and placed in care, and the girl's father was also charged with an offence, as was an imam who conducted the supposed marriage ceremony. Muslim clerics in Australia were outraged that one of their number would ignore the law in this way.
