All I can tell you is that in North Central Ks. They seem to be a popular gun. Most of the time at farm auctions or sales they usually bring between 250 to 350 dollars in well worn but not beat up condition.

I am unsure of the value however you will have better luck with your search if you use the real name and type of the JC Higgins model 20. You actually own a High Standard Model 200. Make sure the gun is unloaded. Raise the bolt, then squeeze the trigger while pulling the bolt to the rear. I've never seen a bolt action where this didn't work.

j c Higgins bolt action shot guns are excellent guns ,and of good quality their was a recall by Sears but that has been with drawn and baseless the shotguns were made by High standard manufacturing . there are two basic models the model 10 wich was made between 1946 and 1956 and the model 11 from 1957 to 1962 model 10 is 6 shot and the model 11 is 3 shot these shotgun are some of the best bolt action shotguns ever made. How ever bolt action shotgun are old fashion and not very popular today and Sears sold a lot of them so one in good to ner new is only worth abought 100 buck if you know somebody that whants it a gun dealer may offer alot less than that however these are still very good gun and better made than most of the modern stuff you have great old shotgun enjoy it

Value of the 1894 Stevens Favorite in .22 caliber is hugely dependent on the gun's condition. Complete guns in rough condition seem to start at about $100 at gunshows and on-line auction sites (but shipping adds to the cost). Really clean examples with good wood, good blue and strong case color can be realistically priced as high as $400, although it takes a picky collector to pay that much. The 1894 in average condition probably is worth $150 to $200.

the model 36 is the last in the line of auto-loading .22 rifles. in good condition the value is only around 75.00. grab a book or check a website and find out what the condition actually is. like most older things that are collected there is a standard chart for determining condition as accepted by most buyers. your "pretty good" condition may be an excellent condition and then the value will increase to as much as 175.00 depending on your area.
your shotgun was made by high standard in the late 1970's to early 1980's. numerich gun parts has many parts for it available as they were able to buy most of high standard's inventory when the factor closed in 1984. you can find them at either www.e-gunparts.com or 1-845-679-2417. good luck
I'm researching the same question w/ a similar sears rifle. So far, I've discovered the sears model 5, 22cal rifle Mod No. 273-2340 & 273-2341(the one I possess) were contracted out to Winchester. Under the Sears brand, they were the Model 5. Winchester manufactured the same rifle, starting in 1963 under the Models 150 & 250. On-line auctions have the values of the Winchesters ranging from $40 to $250 depending on condition. Less info is avail. about the model 5's. The one variance I've noticed is that the forearm on the Model 5 is distinctly different from the Winchesters, that appear more on the line of the Model 94 look. But then again, Hey- I'm no expert. If you can determine the value of the Winchester branded gun, figure that the Sears name will reduce the value by 20-40%
The Ranger tradename was used by Sears Roebuck. Model 101.2 is the Savage model 238. You can't get an exact date on these, but it was probably sometime between 1945 and 1965. Value would be $100 or so.

High Stadnard stopped making the model 66 for sears when the Ted Williams 30 made by Winchester was introduced inteh early 1960's High Standard was completely out of the shotgun busines by early 1977.

Try PolyChoke/Cutts Compensator. Also, High Standard, Winchester, Savage and Stevens made guns for JC Higgins(Sears). I went on "Yahoo" & typed in "High Standard Shotguns" and there is a wealth of information regarding this. High Standard made shotguns as well as pistols for Sears. What you probably have is a Power Pac made by Pachmayr for Sears. I have one as well. A web site that sells these is www.corsonsbarrels.com/powerpacchokes.htm. They are also sometimes listed by Numrich Gun Parts www.e-gunparts.com/. The word is that you should not fire plastic wads through these, which rules out most modern ammo. The wad could expand in the gap between the end of the barrel and the forcing cone of the choke tube. Not a good thing! Be sure that you get tubes made for the Higgins/Sears Power Pac as they are a different size than Pachmayr ones. Also please check your J.C.Higgins for recalls, some are unsafe to shoot.
