Can't you have your tow guy strap the steering wheel and lock the straps by streching them outside the doors and then closing them? Threby allowing him to tow the car from the rear? Might be an idea to bypass the whole problem of the transmission. Maybe, maybe not, just a thought. Bud Sisto

Place a multimeter on the battery so that you can read the voltage. And then starts pulling fuses out one by one until you have the lowest highest reading. Whenever there is a significant change, that circuit will have your problem.

My 1996 XJ6 drives beautifully in the snow. I use soft rubber BF Goodrich touring tires and if I get stuck, I can always rock it out.

Once the vehicle is unlocked. Push the jag symbol in the center of the trunk. This is a neat little hidden feature that took me about 2 years to figure out.

under the cowling of the steering wheel, remove 2 x cross head screws.

remove the (black plastic) exciter ring off the end of the barrel if fitted.

put the ignition key in and turn 90 degrees clockwise.

about 40mm in, on the top of the barrel is a small hole about 3mm in diameter. press in a small Alan key (or a bit of bent wire).

when you manage to press the lug at the bottom of the hole and the ignition key is not be able to turn, pull it outward and remove the Alan key (or wire).

The barrel comes out complete.

installing the new one is easier..

put in the key and turn 90 degrees.

push in the barrel.

pull on the key.. if it does not come out.. job completed.

can you clarify the question. Do you mean the radio will not power up or if it does is it looking for a Code? If it's looking for a code check to see if the 4 digit code is written on a piece of paper stuck to the underside of the engine bay hood. Other wise you will have to get it for a Jag dealer providiing you have the VIN and proof of ownership

On most of these model Jaguars especially the XJ-6 and XJS there is a drain hose for the air-condition . This hose is either blown from the bottom or top with a air compresser with attached blower adapter. Just blow the air thru the hose and this should unclog it and when you make a turn, WOW!! No more wet shoes and socks!!
