As per the Muslim belief, Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) had to sent his wife Bibi Hajra and baby son Prophet Ismail (A.S.) to exile as a part of Almighty Allah's test of Prophet Ibrahim's obedience and trust towards Allah. The mother and the son were left at the Valley of Arafat located at Mekka, Saudi Arabia with few dates and water when no body used to live in that desert.
Gradually the water and dates finished and both mother and the son became thirsty. But to save the life of her son Prophet Ismail, Started running and searching for water between The Mount Saafa and The Mount Marwa (which is still traditionally observed and followed by Muslims during Hajj Pilgrims everyday).
When Hajra was near to give up her hope she came back to baby Ismail (A.S.) and saw that Ismail (A.S.) was crying and with a strike of her foot to a stone water started to come up from the earth by the miracle of Allah. Bibi Hajra then gathered some stone and bound the water source.
The source is known as the Jam jam Well. After few days of its creation Ibrahim (A.S.) was ordered by Allah to take his family back. When Ismail (A.S.) grew older, the family came and settled their home near the Jam jam well. So that was the beginning of Mekkah.
How do you put jam pot covers on?
When jam is still very hot and in jars, drop the waxed circles waxed side down onto the top of the jam. Then get one of the larger polythene circles and dip it just one side of it into a saucer of cold water. Place this water side up on top of the jar, pulling tightly to get rid of as many wrinkles as possible - but you don't need to be too thorough yet. Then get one of the elastic bands and put that over the neck of the jar, trapping the polythene cover to the jar. Gently pull the edges of the polythene now to make a good tight drum like seal.

Why doese a jam jar have 145 grams in it?
The contents of the jam jar is usually around 145 grams (i.e. not including the weight of the jar). This is usually because (although jam is a preserve, when it is made industrially it is not boiled to the extent that it would be when homemade, so is less "preserved" than it used to be), jam is not as long-life as it used to be. It is advised that it is kept in the fridge, so a 145g jar is usually the right size to fit in the fridge door.
Why does toast fall on the jam side down?
That's Murphy's Law. Toast always falls on the jam side because that side's the heaviest!
