Of the fourteen James Bond 007 novels written by Ian Fleming, not one is a continuation of another. Each one of them is a complete and different story. Of cource the secret agent's Controlling Officer, the C.O's secretary and the special weapons designer do not change, but the author leaves enough details in each novel to understand their duties, character and attitude. Unless one wants to learn development of the literary talent and faculty of the author, the reader do not have to read Ian Fleming's novels in the chronological order of their publishing to fully comprehend what is going on in them.
