The Na'vi have several words to refer to humans, especially ones that are in avatar bodies. When Jake first encounters Tsu'tey, Tsu'tey refers to him as a vrrtep, or demon. When Neytiri first arrives at Hometree with Jake, her father and clan leader Eytukan asks her why she brings this swirä, or creature. The word uniltìrantokx, meaning dreamwalker body, is used to refer to an avatar. The Na'vi call a human Tawtute, or Sky Person.

Max Patel, one of the scientists working in theAvatar program, aided Trudy in breaking Jake, Grace, and Norm out of prison after Parker Selfridge arrested them for betraying the RDA. Max stayed behind while Jake, Grace, Trudy, and Norm escaped Hell's Gate, so he was not caught, but someone spotted Trudy and Norm firing up Trudy's Samson Helicopter and reported it to Quaritch, who ran outside and began to fire at the ship as the four of them escaped. After Grace dies from succumbing to a fatal wound in the stomach given to her by Quaritch, Trudy defects to the Na'vi side in a battle between the Na'vi and humans. When Quaritch attempts to soot Jake off of his ikan during the battle, Trudy comes to the rescue and fires at Quaritch's ship, although it does minor damage. This infuriates Quaritch, and then, he discovers who did it and orders his pilot to fire on Trudy's ship. Trudy puts up a brave fight, but Quaritch and his pilot hit hership hard with one of their missiles and set her ship on fire. Trudy still attempts to kill Quaritch but knows that one of them is going to die, and she will most likely be it. Quaritch sends another fatal blow to Trudy's Samson and the ship blows up before she can attempt to escape. (Although Trudy may have survived,because her portrayer, Michelle Rodriguez, has hinted at the opssible return of her character in Avatar 2.)
