i replace the motor in my 98 JGC and it too would not start, but upon putting the motor back in the jeep i took notice that i may have "bumped" the crank positioning sensor, so i replaced that and it fired right up, im not saying that's definitely your problem given you included no details, but its a possibility, good luck

It's under the front right headlight, need to remove headlight assembly and cut hole to get to relay, which is under the plastic frame that holds headlight assembly. The other option is to remove the front bumper assembly to access. If the relay repeatedly fails the fan motor will need replaced.

Was just removing the rear interior trim paneling of our Grand Cherokee this afternoon chasing a water leak. In order to remove the rear lift gate trim panel, the gate has to be open to its fullest extent, as there are three Phillips screws which need to be removed around the interior pull down handle. Once those three screws are out, the whole entire trim panel is retained by a mixture of metal and plastic snap anchors which will pop out when you pull on the panel. The best way to pry off the panel once the Phillips screws are out so as to avoid damage, is to use a body shop pry tool which resembles a flattened "cats paw" screw driver type handle.

You may need to change your spark plugs, wires, and possibly the distributor cap and rotor button. Old wires will "leak" electricity and can, in a sense, short each other out. The faster you try to get the engine to go, the more electricity from the wires gets grounded or transferred to another wire, throwing off the spark timing to each plug.
