1. release the tension rod on the left side of the deck and swing it outward
2.on front left axle pull lever out that keeps tension on the u shaped draft bar that hooks into the front of deck and swing it down towards you
3. pull out spring loaded j hooks on each side of rear deck
4. once hooks are released deck will come down,then slide deck out of the discharge side of mower,turning whells to make it easier

Check to made sure the choke is fully closing. It's possible the choke cable could've slipped preventing it from choking enough. By the same token it could be closing just enough to not cause a problem during warmer weather.

If it starts-replace the module

It's because the (probably left) rear wheel with plastic gears gets worn out or cracks. A new wheel cost $26 but what I do with mine is just switch one of the front wheels to the back as they are the same.
