What problems occur to a fetus who swallows amniotic fluid?

While in-utero the fetus does swallow the amniotic fluid and they breathe the amniotic fluid it is how they practice for life outside the womb. There are no complications to this unless the fetus has had a bowel movement otherwise known as meconium. This could lead to respiratory infection after birth. It is known as meconium aspiration, and usually if they see when your water breaks that he has done this they will have a neonatoligist there to help in suctioning out the lungs and usually there is a good out come. Other than that for the fetus to swallow it is fine because the fetus will filter it with their kidneys and then urinate it back into the amniotic sack.

Are baby born at 37 week healthy?

yes but the longer it stays in the more developed it will be their little lungs need the whole time to develop correctly or they may have to spend a while in the hospital like my daughter did. dont worry mine is now a healthy 17yr old

Yes but not advised! My son was born at 35 weeks, in the country where I live (HK) once you go into labour after 34 weeks they do not try and stop it and they do not give you a steroid injection for the baby's lungs.

My son spent a week in hospital after birth.

He needed two days on a ventilater, to help with his breathing.

He had a feeding tube for two days as his sucking reflex had yet to develop.

He was jaundiced (common in premature and pre term babies).

We were told the two biggest issues with babies born at 35 weeks is the breathing and feeding due to a lack of maturity with the lungs, and the lack of a sucking reflex.

But he is now seven months old and happy and healthy.

He weighed 2.5kg at birth which is a good weight for 35 weeks.

Can you have a vbac after 5 c-sections?

The first thing to remember is, your medical decisions are up to YOU.

There are certainly women out there who have had VBACs after 2, 3 or more cesareans. Your risk of uterine rupture does go up with multiple cesareans, but then your risks also increase the more cesareans you have. It's up to you which set of risks you are comfortable with. There is not a lot of information available on women who VBAC after so many cesareans probably because there is a small pool of women having that many children to begin with in the US.

Do your own research and make your own decision.

Can you see the birth of a human child?

First, the doctor clamps the umbilical cord, then the doctor (or the father of the baby) cuts the umbilical cord. The baby is vigorously wiped to warm and stimulate the baby. Second, most hospitals let mom see the baby--briefly--(unless the baby is in distress). But the baby is moved quickly to a second area because nurses must do an APGAR at 1 minute and 5 minutes after birth, and treat any immediate problems. They put special ointment in the baby's eyes. They also put ID band on the baby's ankle that identifies it to his/her mother. The nurses then do foot prints, and a blood stick in the baby's heel. Plus, the nurses must keep the baby warm, so they put a hat on the baby's head and wrap the baby in a blanket. If there are no problems, the mom can hold the baby for a bit before being taken to the hospital nursery. If there are any medical problems, one set of doctors and nurses focus on the baby and getting the baby to the nursery, while another set of doctors and nurses focus on the mother's medical needs.

Can your eyes be damaged giving birth if you have a astigmatism?

Dont know about astigmatism per se, but it IS possible for pregnancy to mess with your vision. that's why they say not to run out and buy new glasses right away. Wait til you have the baby and see if it clears up

What is the average birth weight of a newborn baby?

About 80 percent of single babies (that is, babies who aren't one half of a set of a twins) born to women in the U.S. between 1995 to 1997 weighed between 6 pounds and 9.25 pounds. The median birthweight for a U.S. baby carried to term was 7 pounds, 11 ounces during that time span.

When will labor begin if you are 50 effaced and almost 5cm dilated wsecond baby?

By the time you have read this I bet you have delivered your baby, you probably had it within 2 hours of writing the question. --------------- I am 40 weeks, 5 cm dilated and 75% effaced - have been since last Friday (it's now Monday). I say that your baby will come when he/she is good and ready, and not a moment earlier. I know it can be frustrating, but your child knows when he is supposed to great the world. If your doctor thinks that anything is wrong, they will likely induce you between 41-42 weeks. I recomend you try to just have your water broken first, and if that doesn't get things moving go on to pitocin or some such Intravenous (IV) inducer. Good luck my dear!

Im 39weeks and 2cm dilated if you drink castrol oil will it put you into labor?

If the baby has reached full term and you are pretty much ready to deliver, a little castor oil probably won't hurt. Many people claim that this is a valid and helpful way to facilitate delivery. Others say it does nothing. In general, it does nothing if you aren't pretty much ready to deliver. You should review this with your doctor or the delivery room staff of your hospital before you take any action. Considering that a baby is not considered "full term" until 37 weeks I would not suggest taking castor oil until you are at least 37 weeks (after consulting your doctor) Even though you are dilated to a 1, it does not mean that you will be going into labor any time soon. You can be dilated to a 4 and carry a baby for several more weeks. Even though it is proven that castor oil is more effective than some other natural induction methods, it is also debatable on how safe it is. Most doctors do not recommend castor oil until you are over your due date. Some other natural ways that you can help speed things up are: sex, spicy foods, pineapple (helps ripen the cervix), red raspberry leaf tea, walking, and most of all! Just relax!!! Your time will come when the baby is ready!!

Does a midwife actually deliver the baby?

Terminology is important here! The only person who can "deliver" a baby is the mother! Midwives (or physicians) simply catch!

How can you tell if you are dilated at 37 weeks pregnant?

A trained person must examine your cervix (at the vault of your vagina) to measure this.

Of course, dilation and labor go together in the pregnancy. A pregnant woman whose cervix is dilating is in labor, and there will be other signs of labor, such as painful contractions (it is the pressure of the uterine contraction that thins and opens -- dilates -- the cervix).

What are good signs that you will go into labor in a week?

It is very hard to predict exactly when you will go into labor, but a few signs that labor is coming soon are:

* Loss of your mucous plug

* The baby drops

* Braxton hicks contractions become stronger and more frequent

Why are babies born early?

There are many reasons. One of the most common is that the mother has pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure, protein in the urine, swollen extremities) and the only way to cure it is by delivering the baby. The mother may have an infection which triggers premaure labor. (even 'flu can do it) The cervix may open slightly and allow the waters to break, so an open pathway for infection means the baby has to be delivered. The baby may have a condition which can only be treated once it is born, or the treatment may trigger premature labor, (e.g. blood group incompatibilty). Multiple pregnancy babies often just run out of room and have to be delivered, also a multiple pregnancy may trigger pre-eclampsia. these are the most common ones but there are many more and sometimes 'no-one knows' is the answer.
