Labrador Retrievers

I breed Great Danes and have owned two Dane/Lab mixed. Male and female. I think they are great. They had the better qualities that both breeds offer. They also lived to be 11 and 12 years old. When Danes alone are not expected to live as long. Eight years is a grand old age for a Dane. Keep in mind that all dogs are individuals and have their own personalities, but from my experience there is no better dog than a Dane/Lab.

Labrador retrievers are not known for having back problems; they do often have something called hip dysplasia which involves their rear hips.

As Labs get older they can develope lumps. Some lumps are just accumulated fat cells, but other lumps on labs could possibly be cancerous. Even though the Labrador breed is usually not prone to cancer like the golden retriever; you should still get the lumps looked at by a vet.

Labrador Retrievers are one most the most common breed for assistance dogs, so they helped lots of people in need, such as blind or disabled people. Also, the Labrador Retriever can be trained to be a police dog, search and rescue dog or a therapy dog who brings companionship to people who need love. One thing for sure, the Labrador Retriever is eager to please, and they want to be helpful to their owners!

So far my 8 week old puppy looks like a black lab with possibly long hair on the ears. I saw one litter with both black and brown pups, but 6 of the 11 of this litter were all black, with features of the lab.

Labradors are genuinely energetic dogs who love to run. They are extremely friendly, so they would not be the best guard dog. More likely, they would lead any sort of intruder right to the money. Labradors are the AKC's most popular breed of dog, and in my personal opinion, the best pet for a family with children. They are easy to train, but if you at until adulthood to begin training, you may have some difficulties. It is best to start at a young age.

Labradors are a very energetic, fun-loving breed. They need plenty of exercise and would prefer to live in the country, but are adjustable to city life. They take time and effort to exercise, so don't just think once around the block will do them. But through there boisterous nature, they are the sweetest breed around in my opinion, and are well known for the patience with children.

You should never run in a science lab because u might push someone over and they might really badly injure themselves or you might trip and bash your head. you could also knock over a chemical and it could go in someones eye.

The life span of Labradors is 10 to 12 years.

A good way of telling is to look at the paws. The bigger the paws, the bigger the dog will be.

Any age. Just make sure the dog has a life jacket that FITS him/her. I have a friend who has a weiner dog, her dog is only a couple years old. So just make sure it has a life jacket. Or if your dog is a big German Shepherd or Great Dane, make sure your dog can swim. If your dog is too big for a life jacket and can't swim. Sorry.

Labs usually stop the majority of their growing by the time they reach one year old. During this time it is very important that you are feeding your dog a puppy chow formula food. This kind of food has a lot of nutrients that growing puppies need to insure a good development. It also contains more calories than regular food to support their active lifestyle. After one year, the dogs growth will slow down a lot but it will continue to grow till it hits about 2 years old.

I have a black lab puppy who is about 7 months now. at 3 or 4 months mine was almost knee high and wieghed about 35 LBS. There legs are long and look a little funny with big feet. Otherwise they should look normal.

Labradors can bite, of course, as they have jaws and teeth. But they generally don't bite, because they have a very calm nature, love people and don't usually fight with other animals, except for defence.

Golden Retrievers, unlike many other breeds of dogs, are actually known to have an extra long puppyhood! Usually one of these dogs won't be fully mature and settled until it is a least three years old. If you were to use the classic dog age calculator you would find that a dog's first year is equal to about 12 human years, and each subsequent year is equal to approximately seven human years! When you look at it in this way you can assume that a Golden Retriever is a "teenager" between the age of one year and three years!

Though, to watch one fight, you would not agree with me, however, they are NT wild animals, so they d not exist, in the wild. They are what you would call, "domesticated", animals. Which means they cannot fend for themselves, but, depend upon their owners for survival.........Chuck.

There is no way to tell the total population of Labradors since more and more are born everyday, and not every lab is registered with a Kennel Club, so there are thousand more than those that are recorded by the kennel clubs.

He should be friendly and sweet natured or Playful and bouncy or maybe even a mix of the two personality. You can't completely determine as it is a mix.
