Probably. We already have Global warming. We don't need it to get any worse. So yes,they should.

The most or all piping systems used in refineries including vessels and towers opearte at extremely high pressures. If it happens that the leak occurs in the pipe, vessel or tower if thats possible, the content falls on the ground. The pumps and valves may leak due to poor mantainance. I doesn't have to be a solid or liquid material that could pollute the lend. The vapours may condense and the condensate fall on the ground.

Pollution is caused by many things such as factories, burning fuels, and even as much as forest fires.

Many things, including the following: Gas, factories, trash, cigarettes, and many more. I can explain them to the best of my thought. Gas, because it runs off cars, gas is very harmful to the air, and which is caused by land. Factories are just like gas, no need to re-explain myself. Trash. When we do trash, all we do is put it under the land to decompose. That's really bad for the soil, leaving us less available space to farm. Latly, cigarettes, they do gas and are left on ground.
