How can factories stop pollution?
A factory that emits contaminants may have to reduce or eliminate the loss of these materials because:
To do this they first have to determine what pollutants they emit. This is done by sampling the air and gases leaving the plant smoke stacks, the water leaving by the plant sewers and the solid wastes going to the disposal sites.
For each of the pollutants they then determine why it is being created and why it is being discharged. This is usually the work of engineers and chemists. In many cases the pollution they emit is actually valuable materials that can be recovered and sold. In other cases the pollution represents wastes of materials or energy that are costing the factory money.
For each pollutant there is a method of reduction. These include:
What are the effects of an oil spill?
Oil spills effect the economy because:
It costs money to clean the oil up, and the oil is usually not recoverable.
Oil spills cause considerable damage to many jobs in many industries including:
Oil spills affect the local economy because the gasoline prices go up. Therefore those families that cannot afford the high gas prices cannot transport themselves in their own car.
How many rivers are polluted in the world?
There are 164 major rivers, but some aren't even counted so no one knows the full total.

What type of pollution do people cause?
CO2 emissions form cars, oils and chemicals that go down the drain, garbage in rivers, and much more.
How does deforestation cause land pollution?
Trees, and indeed all plant life, consume carbon dioxide (CO2) through the chemical process known as photosynthesis, which converts carbon dioxide into organic compounds using energy from sunlight and producing oxygen as a by-product. Humans and animals consume oxygen and produce CO2, as a by-product, as do many industrial processes. Forests of all types, rain forests, evergreen forests, etc., are especially efficient at this vital function (reprocessing CO2). They also provide shelter and sustenance for a great number and variety of plants, insects and animals which are also vital for the natural food chain, each species depending on the next or the former in the chain to exist. Many of these inhabitants are, as yet, undiscovered, and so, their vital and necessary function and possible use in the creation of medicines and other useful products aren't yet known.
Deforestation removes the most efficient "air scrubbers" and oxygen producers on our planet, as well as, the forest inhabitants and their potential usefulness to humans. Also, many times forests are removed, not simply for the lumber but, as a means of creating arable land for farming by burning thereby producing a great deal of carbon pollution. What is not taken into account is that the soil of forests are often only able to sustain a farm for a few growing seasons since what made the topsoil nutrient rich was the trees, insects and animals that have been removed and/or displaced by clearing the forest. The planet loses the value of the forests for CO2 removal and oxygen production and the farmer cannot survive very long on the land that was cleared by creating a great deal of pollution.
How was the BP oil spill contained?
I think it was more of an attempt to contain the oil, rather than a complete containment of the oil, as oil washed up on beaches in four states and entered the wetlands in Louisiana. There were miles of oil booms laid in the Gulf to hold back the oil. To protect the wetlands, special berm were designed.
A number of other measures were developed to reduce the amount of oil that spilled into the gulf. See related link.
What are three types of pollution in runoff?
There are three classifications of water pollution. The three classifications includes: chemical pollution, human pollution, and industrial pollution. Microbiological pollution is also another classification of water pollution.
three causes of land pollution are garbage dumping, agricultural practices, accidental disasters
How do you prevent a land slide?
stop cutting the trees on one side only because that will lose balance and a landslide will occur.
second, do not build too much houses on the hill or mountain and keep balance
A. slope where the landslip occurred made flatter
B. New vegetation planted
Drainage pipes outs in place
D. A layer of large rocks put in place: rock armour
E. Rock armour cemented into a trench with concrete
F. sheets of special strong plastic called geotextile
How Diwali cause land pollution?
A Festival Of Lights or Pollution?
This Diwali make a pledge to reduce environmental pollution, not increase it.
Do you encourage your kids to burn firecrakers on Diwali? Do you go all out and splurge at the nearest store, so your kids can shoot rockets in the air, light 'anars' and 'chakris'? Here's why you should think twice.
Child Exploitation
Your children are fortunate to be part of the privileged few that can afford firecrackers. But there are numerous children who are employed by the firecracker industry, who sit late into the night making crackers for your children to burn in an instant. Firecrackers are made using harmful chemicals and acids, and these children work from dawn to dusk, breathing such harmful fumes and coming into constant skin contact with the acids. They burn their hands, legs and eyes, and many get miamed for life. The conditions they work in are inhumance, and the compensation, pitiful.
Air Pollution
A heavy smog hangs low in the air on Diwali night and a few days after that. While we ignore the smell - and some even claim to like it - we can't ignore the fact that we are inhaling poison. The levels of sulphur nitrates, magnesium, nitrogen dioxide increase, and these chemicals are injurious to our respiratory passages. Asthamatics, beware! Diwali can be potentially fatal!
Ecology
One Diwali night causes as much damage to the ecology as regular pollution does over the span of a year.
Noise Pollution
'Bombs' are a favourite amongst kids, and the noisier the better. This leads to noise pollution, and a prolonged exposure to such high levels of noise can lead to permanent damage of the eardrums.
Garbage
The amount of garbage released on the day after Diwali is phenomenal. Approximately 4,000 additional metric tonnes of garbage are released in Delhi alone, and twice the amount in Mumbai. And this garbage, far from being eco-friendly, is extremely hazardous for the environment as it comprises of chemicals like phosphorous, sulphur and potassium chlorate, and tonnes of burnt paper.
Accidents
Numerous fire accidents occur every year. Rough estimates claim that nearly 10,000 people get injured by the crackers. Most of the injuries are minor, but cause an untold amount of pain. Most of the victims are children in the age group of 8-16.
School Campaigns
A few schools around the country are encouraging their students not to burn firecrackers. Perhaps it's time you did the same.
Firecracker Display
Take your children to a clubhouse or encourage your neighbourhood society to hold a firework display, followed by dinner. In this manner a lot fewer fireworks get burnt, and one doesn't feel that they haven't 'celebrated' this festival in the manner it calls for.
How does conserving energy help control air water and land pollution?
less goes down the drain and into the sewers so theres less recycling required for example long hot showers use a lot of electricity and extra water which requires more energy production and the burning of fossil fuels.
We are polluting the water bodies in easy acts such as throwing a plastic bottle into the sea. Other than that, loggers that chop down trees indirectly result in water pollution through soil erosion. Waste from factories are sometimes discharged into streams, contaminating the water. Oil spills in the seas simply pollutes the water. Other than that, greenhouse gases from factories, power plants, vehicles etc. are polluting the air, not forgetting forest fires.
Pollutants such as ozone or smog are pollutants?
Ozone present in the troposphere is also called as bad ozone. It is also a
green house gas. It is the major constituent of the urban smog.
What chemical substance when used can pollute land air and water?
Benzene, chlorine, floride and nitrates and pesticides
Preventive measures of water pollution?
Prevention of industrial pollution can be done by the use of green or renewable energy. Creating awareness about the importance of environmental conservation can also be a good way to stop industrial pollution.
How can people reduce pollution?
for air:
What are the ways of eliminating or minimizing air pollution?
Some pollution will always result from man's and nature's activities . The secret is to get the levels down to the natural assimilative capacity of the Earth's ecosystems.
To this end people should follow all the rules from kindergarten:
* Pick up after themselves * Don't take more than you need * Clean-up the messes you make * Don't wait for someone else to tell you to do the right thing * Keep your neighbour's stuff as neatly as you want to have your'd kept * Don't make promises you can't keep And the rule from camping:
* Leave the campground a little cleaner than you found it
kerosene burns and pollutes the world killing everyone! within seconds
What are reasons for land pollution?
Pollution is the contaminants in the environment that is harmful to all living things. The reasons for having pollution are discharging harmful gases from motor vehicles, chemical plants, plastics and improper disposal of waste.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Noise Pollution?
Answer: When someone, probably your neighbour, does not have an entertainment system and you are listening to yours very loud them they get to entertain themselves by listening to your music especially if its one of their favourites; then you both get to enjoy it and when you play your stereo system loudly this is a form of noise pollution which is benefiting to others in this case.
Can you get arrested for land pollution?
Though there is no mandatory rule to get arrested after polluting land, but to check or control the ever expanding land pollution this can prove a very good measure. Fine can be another such measure to reduce land pollution if followed seriously..
