You can remove a standard snap fastener from clothing by laying it flat out on a table and inserting the tip of a screwdriver underneath the snap socket to loosen it. Wiggle the screwdriver all around the outer edge of the socket. Flip the snap over and insert the screwdriver between the stud and the clothing and wiggle it all around the edges once more, until the stud and snap socket separate from one another.

The basic idea is that you can remove most of the water in the clothes by spinning the drum that holds them really fast for quite a while. (Newer hi-tech dryers do a much better job of this than old fashioned ones, by the way.)

As a couple of people already pointed out, a centripetal force is one pointing *toward* the axis of the rotating drum. A centripetal force from the inner drum's surface acts on the clothing to keep it moving in a circle as the drum spins.

But the water in the fabric is only held to the fabric by a weak attraction. This force isn't strong enough to hold the water in the same circular path as the clothes when the drum spins fast, and the water flies out through the holes in the drum and gets pumped out to the drain.

The spin cycle, the clothes will not fit through the holes in the washing machine's drum but the water will. This means that while the washing machine is able to exert a centripetal force on the clothes, the water absorbed by the clothes does not have the same amount of force exerted on it so it moves away from the axis of rotation (and out of the clothes). The force of the spinning action slings the water from the clothing into the outer basket and the pump removes the water from the tub.

The washing has centripetal force acting on it because it is constantly changing direction, which equates to a change in velocity as velocity is a vector, therefore it's accelerating towards the center. (F=ma and F=(mv^2)/r are relevant formula's for force.)

I know for sure that putting clay cat litter on the pavers will absorb a lot of the oil, but you will still have stains on them. I think that muratic acid might get the rest of it up. I know my grandparents use to use it to clean the floors of the garage. Keep this in mind though. Muratic acid 'etches' surface of concrete. If you put the muratic acid on some of the pavers, but not all of them, it might change the intensity of color of those pavers. I don't know this for sure though.

I considered acid but was afraid that it might harm my dog. I found a new green product called Oil Gone Easy S-200 which eliminated my stain in about a week without the use of toxic chemicals. Very good results.

THIS WORKS A TREAT!

I have porous brick pavers which were badly stained with oil from the car. Mix Sodium Bicarbonate (common bi-carb of soda) with a good splotch of dishwashing detergent (I used Earth Choice, an Australian brand, environmentally friendly from the supermarket) and a small quantity of hot water. After scrubbing it in really well and leaving it maybe 10 minutes to soak in, I rinsed it off with a couple buckets of hot water and it looks GREAT! After having tried engine degreaser with little effect, I'm delighted that this is so environmentally friendly too!

There may be a sock that jumped the tub rim and got stuck in the water pump, which is mounted directly to the motor.

They will still be wet but shouldn't be too wet so it is possible that it's not coming up to speed. Make sure you've got it on the right setting because for things like 'delicates' it puts the spin cycle lower so they won't get as dry on that

To remove static from clothing, you can rub a dryer sheet on the fabric or spray a mixture of water and fabric softener on the clothing. Additionally, you can try using a metal hanger to discharge the static by lightly rubbing it on the fabric.

Any degreaser should work. I use Dawn dishwashing liguid straight from the bottle. Rub gently in to clothing with a little water. If there is alot, let soak overnight.

You can also try the white goop hand cleaner. It works wonders. Apply like a pre-reater on stain and wash as normal.

Fill two spray bottles, one with six parts distilled water to one part soap and the other with pure distilled water. To spot clean taffeta, lay the garment with the stain facing up on an ironing board and place a clean white cloth underneath the stain. Spray the stain with the soap solution until it is gone. Change the cloth underneath if it becomes too wet. Spray the area where the stain was with the pure distilled water and press a clean cloth over it to absorb excess moisture. Place another clean cloth underneath the wet area and allow to air dry.

If you are going to bleach a spot, put the linen on a cup or bowl and pull the material until it is taut. This will give you a limited area to scrub and/or pour bleach (only if linen is white) or spot remover on. Once you have treated all of the spots, then wash the entire tablecloth or garment.

No, you don't need to just use the one product. It is one that a lot of people use because it tends to be less of a problem to baby's skin. However, you can use regular laundry detergent and see if your baby gets itchy or otherwise has irritated skin. If so, add about a cup of white vinegar to the rinse water to remove the soap and that should help. Products without bleach worked best for me.

You will need a nubuck sponge or nubuck eraser. This is a soft block of foam used to rub out stains and spots. It is not stiff or hard as this will damage the leather. For a tough stain, use a soft toothbrush or a baby's hairbrush.
