What time was lee Harvey oswald arrested?

This is a difficult question to nail down exactly, but a good educated guess can be made. Page 178 of the Warren Commission report states that "At 1:45 p.m., the police radio stated, 'Have information a suspect just went in the Texas Theatre on West Jefferson.'" There is then a detail of the actions of the police officers, and on page 179 the report says "At 1:51 p.m., police car 2 reported by radio that it was on the way to headquarters with the suspect." Assuming that it might take a minute, or at most 2 minutes, to get the subdued suspect in the police car, that would put the actual time of arrest at about 1:49pm on November 22, 1963.

By the way, I acknowledge that many people dispute the findings of the Warren Commission's report. However most people do not object to this part of the findings, so I will assume that this part of the report, at least, is factual.

Did Lee Harvey Oswald actually kill John F. Kennedy?

Answer 1

In the short time that Oswald lived after Kennedy's assassination, he consistantly denied shooting Kennedy, so it would not be possible that he would give a reason for doing it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_harvey_oswald#Assassination_of_JFK says:

Oswald was interrogated several times during his two days of detention at Dallas Police Headquarters. He denied killing President Kennedy or Officer Tippit, denied owning a rifle, said two photographs of him holding a rifle and a pistol were fakes, denied knowing anything about the forged Selective Service card with the name "Alek J. Hidell" in his wallet, denied telling his co-worker he wanted a ride to Irving to get curtain rods for his apartment, and denied he had been seen carrying a long heavy package to work the morning of the assassination.

Oswald wanted to be important and historical. He didn't just keep a diary, he called it a Historic diary! He defected to the USSR, found out he was a nobody there too, made arrangements to come back and planned what to tell the media on arrival... but nobody bothered to cover the story of his return. He screwed up an assassination attempt on a general earlier the same year, and had made plans what to say if captured.

Then, he did manage to become historic, the bad way. He tried to contact a leftist lawyer he'd heard of... clearly he was hoping for a big showy trial. Then the Dallas police dragged him in front of one unsearched crowd after another, until they found what they obviously wanted, a crowd with someone in it who was just as nutty.

His last act on this Earth was to raise his (handcuffed) fist to his head in the well known Communist "Knuckle-Head" sign.

What motive did Lee Harvey Oswald have to kill President Kennedy?

He worked at the Texas School Book Depository warehouse where the shots were fired from. He was seen carrying a long thin package into the TSBD which he claimed were curtain rods. He was seen on the sixth floor of the TSBD 30 minutes before the assassination. He was left alone there. He did none of his assigned work for the day. A witness on the street saw the gun being fired from the sixth floor and gave a description of the gunman which matched Oswald. He left the building minutes after the assassination. He was the only person to leave the TSBD between the assassination and when the police surrounded the building. He killed a cop on the same day, in front of witnesses. And he left his gun and fingerprints at the crime scene. He tried to shoot the arresting officers; an odd thing for an "innocent patsy" to do!

Oswald had no need for curtain rods. His rented room already had them, as did the house where his wife lived. And of course, no curtain rods were found in the TSBD, although the empty package was. Obviously, the rifle was in the package.

Did he do it? Lee Harvey Oswald did do it. He was a man who never fit in; no matter what he tried, he always ended up alienating himself from the "group". The likelihood that he could cooperate or coordinate this activity with another person or persons is very remote. He had the training, the skill, and the means to carry it out all by himself. Most of all, after all of his failures, he had the motivation to make this grand gesture that ensures that his name would always be a part of American history.

What happened to Jack Ruby after shooting Lee Harvey Oswald?

On March 14, 1964, a jury convicted Jack Ruby of killing Oswald and sentenced him to death. Jack Ruby's conviction was later overturned, but he died from cancer on January 3rd, 1967, while waiting for a new trial.

Was Lee Harvey Oswald convicted?

Technically, Oswald was "innocent", in the sense that he never lived to be tried, and here in the US a person is considered innocent until proven guilty.

However, if you define "innocent" to mean "he didn't do it", then he absolutely was not innocent.

While many have attempted to whitewash Oswald, typically they do it by way of mistaken or even wrong information. Oswald's palmprint was lifted from his rifle while he was still alive. Conspiracy buffs see some significance to the fact that his palmprint was taken by the FBI after his death. The fact that there is no way to go from ink on a card, to body oil on a rifle, is not mentioned by buffs, as is the fact that the palmprint was lifted while Oswald was still alive.

Other incorrect information is also popular. At one point in time there was some belief that Oswald needed and had help, a fellow sniper on the Grassy Knoll. We now know that at the moment of the head shot, there was a concrete wall between this location and the President's head. In any case, the spot was wide open to the public to see, and in fact at least one witness was less than 20 feet away.

Forensic analysis reveals that an instant before the President's head exploded *forward and to the right* his head was driven three inches violently down and forward, clearly by Oswald's bullet from behind and above. The explosion of debris then twisted his head back and to the left. This was mistaken for proof of another sniper. However, a rifle on his right side would have left an exit hole on his left side of his head, quite possibly moving on to strike Jackie. No such thing happened.

Some claim that Oswald "mysteriously" had two wallets, one found on him at the theater, one at the site where he murdered Officer Tippet. No wallet was found at the Tippet scene; the DPD was simply photographed with *a* wallet there, no doubt checking the IDs of witnesses, that sort of thing.

There are those who claim, on no evidence at all, that Oswald worked for the CIA. No one has turned up a canceled paycheck, or any other proof. Anyone too dead to defend himself can be accused of that.

There are those who see great importance that the man who murdered Oswald was tangentially connected with the Mob... but if you look at the record, Ruby was barely squeaking by, even running two night clubs. Doesn't sound much like a Mob business!

See the links below; they are excellent for comprehending the evidence-based conclusions.

How long after the John F. Kennedy assassination did Lee Harvey Oswald become a suspect?

Only a few minutes, as he was the only employee who failed to show up for a roll call. His description was radioed out, which is probably why Officer Tippett pulled over to talk to him, and Oswald shot him. Then he dodged police cars by going in a theater without paying, and tried to shoot the arresting officers when they arrived. And yet there are those who like to pretend he was innocent and JFK died as some sort of Illuminati Reptilian Skull and Bones Trilateral Rothchilds Bilderberger Zionist Nazi Mafia CIA NWO conspiracy.
