Where did the catahoula dog come from?
The origins of the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog are speculative. However, they are believed to be descended from crosses between Native American dogs, Red Wolves, and the dogs brought to the New World by Spanish conquistadors, probably mastiff-types and sighthounds. Some experts believe Beaucerons were added to the breed when French arrived to the new world. The settlers admired the native dogs, as they showed to be capable of scenting, tracking and treeing game as well as herding wild hogs and cattle. There are many stories regarding the origin of the breed's name: Catahoula. The most likely is that it is a misinterpretation of the Indian word that meant "Choctaw," the name of a local tribe. The word 'Catahoula' is actually a combination of two Choctaw words 'okhata', meaning lake, and 'hullo', meaning beloved, or a French transformation of the Choctaw Indian word for their own nation, 'Couthaougoula' pronounced 'Coot-ha-oo-goo-la'. The Catahoula is now said to be named after the parish of the same name in Louisiana, where it is the State Dog.

Do leopard tortoises need companions?
It depends on the animal. Mine live in something like a mini-pack, and if you see one of them, another one is likely to be close by. They can be hostile too, like when my female hissed at a new tortoise and wouldn't let him get near any of the others. With some time, they got used to each other and she ignores him. Most though get along fine by themselves although I would think they'd like occasional company.
How many babys do leopards have at one time?
When a leopard gecko lays a clutch of eggs, generally there will be two eggs deposited 2-4" deep into soil. Although there have been cases where one egg is laid or even 3, 2 eggs are laid at a time. Each egg will contain one embryo if fertilized. Again, there has been some cases where two individual geckos were present in one egg. There have also been deformities where an animal was hatched with two heads on one body, or extra limbs or even 2 animals joined at the waist.

What are types of teeth in LEOPARD?
Leopards have powerful jaws for killing and eating their prey. Their strong jaws contain 32 teeth, which can be categorized into three types - canine teeth, carnassial teeth, and incisors.
The four long and pointed teeth on either side of a leopard's front teeth are canine teeth or fangs which are about 2 inches (5 centimeters) long. Canine teeth are used mainly for biting and piercing. Along with its claws, the leopard uses its strong jaws and sharp teeth to grab onto the neck or head of its prey and then snap the animal's spine cord.
A leopard uses special molars along the sides of its jaws to eat its prey. These molars, called carnassial teeth, have extremely sharp edges and work like scissors to cut off pieces of meat as the leopard bites. A leopard swallows pieces of meat without chewing.
The small upper and lower front teeth are called incisors. The leopard's incisors are used to rip off the prey's fur, nibble small bits of meat from prey's bones, and provide more gripping power for a leopard's jaws.
Leopards usually try to stay away from their predators rather than confront them, but, if they cannot avoid a fight with these strong animals, they use their strong and sharp teeth and claws as weapons to inflict fatal damage on their enemies.
i have 2 geckos, one is an adult female and one is probably 8 months old or so. the little one is not friendly, he has tried to snap at me (they can't really bite that hard), and does not let me touch him or move him out of the cage. the adult female, however, is very friendly, has been with me a bit longer, and lets me hold her and lift her in and out of the cage without hesitation. in fact, when i put my hand towards the cage, she walks towards me and puts her two hands up for me to grab her. I'm not sure if she's an unusual exception for friendly geckos who will stay on your arm as you walk around the house. my little one certain acts much different at his age than the adult female did when i first got her as a baby.
