In magic the gathering how does the voodoo doll work?

During your upkeep you put a pin counter on Voodoo Doll.

If Voodoo Doll is untapped at the end of your turn it deal damage to it's controller equeal to the number of counters.

You can pay double the amount of counters on Voodoo Doll, and tap Voodoo Doll to deal damage to target creature or player.

Lets take the scenario that it is the beginning of your turn and there are currently 3 pin counters on Voodoo Doll.

During your upkeep put a pin counter on Voodoo Doll (4 counters)

At any time during your turn (when you can play an instant effect) you can pay 8 mana, tap Voodoo Doll and deal 4 damage to a target creature or player.

If Voodoo Doll remains untapped at the end of your turn, you will take 4 damage and Voodoo Doll will be destroyed.

You do not have to use the Voodoo Doll's ability, all you need is for Voodoo Doll to be tapped at the end of your turn.

You could tap it with a fast effect, or use a spell to turn it into a creature and attack. There are a vast assortment of ways to prevent Voodoo Doll from dealing you damage.

Personally i would suggest that you get a better 6 drop card. :)

Good Luck (may you never be mana screwed)

In magic the gathering when it says to add so and so mana where from your hand or library?

'Mana' is simply a count of energy you have generated from your permanents. If you tap a forest, you have added one green 'mana' to your 'mana pool', so you can spend that one green mana on a spell or ability.

If a card adds mana to your mana pool, you aren't searching for any card, there is no card 'called' mana, and the card does not mean you get to do anything with 'land' cards from hand or library. All it means is you've now got some extra mana to use that phase, exactly as if you'd tapped some land for it.

In Magic the Gathering when a monster with summoning sickness is tapped is it destroyed?

No, of course not. Summoning Sickness stops a creature from attacking or using an ability with a Tap symbol as a cost. It does not stop it from being tapped by other effects, or for certain costs which require a tap, but do not use the Tap symbol (they can be used for Convoke for example) and they are certainly not destroyed if they end up tapped.

How do equipment work in magic the gathering?

Equipment cards are a bit like an artifact form of Auras.

- You cast the artifact spell as normal, and it enters the battlefield when it resolves.

- In your main phase, at a time when you can cast a sorcery, you can pay the Equip cost to Equip the Equipment to one of your creatures. That creature then gains all the listed bonuses and effects. This is a targeting ability, so a creature with Protection from Artifacts cannot be equipped, and if a creature gains this Protection while equipped, the equipment 'falls off' and becomes unequipped.

- You can only target a creature you control. If the opponent takes control of your equipped creature, the equipment remains attached. However the equipment is still under your control, so you may pay the Equip cost to attach it to another of your creatures.

- If an equipped creature is destroyed or leaves the field, the Equip card remains in play.

How do you identify a card to be rare uncommon or common?

On Magic: the Gathering cards, there is a set symbol on the right of the card, just under the image.

Early sets of cards do not have a set symbol (Alpha, Beta, Unlimited, Revised, Fourth Edition and Fifth Edition)

All cards that were released the Exodus set do not have rarity associated to the symbol, the symbol is just black.

All sets from Exodus up, the set symbol is either Black (Common), Silver (Uncommon) Gold (Rare) or the new orange (Mythic Rare).

Can you play multiple legendary creatures in Magic the Gathering?

A creature's ability can be used as many times as you can pay it, unless stated otherwise. If a creature has to tap to be able to use the ability, that will mean you need to untap it before you can use the ability again. Some abilities state they can only be used once per turn, others may state they can only be used "at a time when you can use a sorcery" meaning they can only be done in your main phases when no other effects are on the stack.

But in any other case, the creature's effect is instant speed.

Are you allowed to make a normal deck of magic with commander cards?

'Commander' cards are game legal in non-Commander decks, but only Vintage and Legacy. They are not legal in Standard, unless they are a reprint of a current Standard-legal card.

'Command Tower' does nothing in non-Commander games. Tapping it has no effect, it has no point of reference for its mana colour, so produces no mana.

What is reach in magic the gathering?
