Can creatures with summoning sickness attack back when they are defending in 'Magic The Gathering'?

Defending creatures deal damage to an attacking creature's toughness when they block equal to their power. It's called 'blocking', not 'attacking back'. Summoning sickness has no affect on blocking. Summoning sickness is the inability of a creature to use tap (tap symbol) abilities or attack until the next turn of the owner who summoned it.

In magic the gathering if I use multiple deal 1 damage to target creature cards on a monster with 5 toughness all in one turn does the monster die from the accumulated damage or just block all the 1's?

Damage stays on a creature until the end of turn, so if you deal 1 damage to that creature five times, then it has taken five damage in total, and will be destroyed.

How many Magic The Gathering players are there worldwide?

there is over 15,000 cards atleast if you collected one of each from alpha to the newest set and more are created all the time, so to get a dead on number would almost be impossible. just count them yourselves from alpha to the newest set, let me know what you get to before you quit.

so i used a site that had all the cards from alpha to present and i found out that the acctual number is 10618 including the five colors of lands

As of June 12, 2010, I counted 11,179 different cards. I did some quick math using the gatherer, so I might be off a few.

As of Jan 31st, 2011, there are 20,043 unique cards. This includes EVERY card, from promo cards to tokens.

Are abilities spells on magic the gathering?

Abilities are not spells, but note that creatures and all other cards (but lands) are only spells in the moment they are cast and on the stack. So if you cast a creature spell, it's not a spell after it resolves.

In magic the gathering If a creature token is put into play then will effects like Soul warden Her effect being whenever another creature comes into play you gain 1 life work?

Yes, Soul Warden's ability is activated when a creature token enters the battlefield (or "comes into play"). For example, if your opponent has out a Soul Warden and you play a Seige-Gang Commander, your opponent gains four life.

This also applies to any other cards with abilities activated by creatures entering the battlefield, such as Hamletback Goliath.

If you sacrifice a creature with the ability to return to your hand by paying mana can you sacrifice him then return him to your hand?

Not usually, no. It depends on a few things.

If the creature's ability says that when it hits the graveyard, you can pay a cost to return it to hand, then that's fine. It doesn't matter if the sacrifice is a cost or effect, the creature can trigger as long as it doesn't specifically say it had to be destroyed (sacrificing is not a destruction effect).

If the creature says something like "U: Return this creature to its owners hand", then these can never be both sacrificed and returned.

If the sacrifice is a cost, then the creature is gone, it has left the field before you can activate the ability. It should be noted that a creature's abilities can only be activated in any other zone than the battlefield, if they specifically say they can. So this creature cannot activate its ability in the graveyard.

If the sacrifice is an effect, then it can activate its ability in response. It will return to hand first, then if the sacrifice effect was untargeted, it will make you sacrifice something else when it resolves (it never 'selected' the first monster originally) or fail to resolve, depending on the exact wording.

What does magic flash do?

If you mean in Magic the Gathering:

Official Magic the Gathering rules:

http://rules.wizards.com/rulebook.aspx?game=Magic&category=Game Rules

"502.57. Flash

502.57a. Flash is a static ability that functions in any zone from which you could play the card it's on. "Flash" means "You may play this card any time you could play an instant."

502.57b. Multiple instances of flash on the same object are redundant."

So that means if you have a card with flash you may play it whenever you can cast an instant. You can for example cast a creature spell with flash on your opponents turn.

How many times can a planeswalker's abilities be used in a turn?

A Planeswalker can only use one ability per turn, and only on your own turns. Planeswalkers do not suffer from summoning sickness though, so may use an ability on the turn they are played.

In MTG does shroud stop counter spells?

No. The Shroud ability only works when the card is on the battlefield, not on the stack or anywhere else.

What do cards with flanking do in magic the gathering?

Whenever a creature with flanking is blocked by a creature without flanking, the creature without flanking gets -1/-1 for each instance of flanking the attacking creature has. No card exists that has multiple instances by itself, but there are cards that can give each other multiple instances of flanking.

Can you buy MTG booster boxes online in Canada?

Yes

Just look around, you can find several retailers who will ship to Canada. You can even find the cards in both French and English. If you are having a hard time finding one that will ship, then look on ebay.com

Here is a list of places I know ship to Canada:

starcitygames.com

collecterschache.com

Trollandtoad.com

Bigfireball.com

Mtgstronghold.com

Keep in mind that there are many, many, many more.

Edit: Beware that Wizards has passed a rule that retailers in the US are NOT allowed to ship boosters and booster boxes outside of the US.

thegameshop.ca is one of the only sites I've found, and they don't have much for magic.

Can a magic card that deals X damage to a creature do X damage to an opponent I assume not as you opponent is not a creature.?

ok if it says deal X damage to target opponent than deal X damage to opponent and NOT creature. if it says deal X damage to target creature than deal it to the creature and NOT the player. if it says creature and player deal it to a creature and a player ect. the point is you will get a strait awnser if you just READ THE CARD, AND NEVER BEND WHAT THE CARD IS SAYING. ex: if it says get a creature from the grave and you get a instant you are bending the rules (it happens ALOT).

In the game magic the gathering if you use the ability of jandors saddle bags to untap a creature can you attack with it again in the same turn?

You have to keep two things in mind. 1 - Normally, you only get one Combat Phase, 2 - All monsters attack at the same time. Untapping a monster after it has attacked will in no way allow it to attack once more, because you are past your Combat Phase. Even if you were still in the Combat Phase, all attacks are declared simultaneously, and you are past the 'declare attackers' step.

How does infect work in magic the gathering?

Infect is a replacement effect, meaning it modifies how the normal game rules work.

Infect specifically modifies the damage-dealing rules. A creature with Infect does not deal regular damage to creatures or players. In the case of a creature, it places a -1/-1 counter on it for each point of unprevented damage. In the case of a player, it places that many Poison Counters. This is for combat damage and effect damage too.

If a creature with Infect deals damage to a Planeswalker, as a Planeswalker is neither a creature nor a player, then the damage is handled normally. The Planewalker's own replacement effect will removes some of his or her loyalty counters.

What magic card gives all green creatures flying?

Eldrazi monument gives all your creatures flying, indestructible and +1/+1, but it requires that you sacrifice a creature every upkeep

Can a planeswalker be returned from the graveyar in mtg?

Yes.

Any card that says " Return target card from your graveyard to your hand." can be used to target a planeswalker. (Example: Regrowth) However, no card exists that can return a planeswalker from a graveyard to play that I know of. It would have to be worded "return target (permanent/non-land permanent) from (a/your) graveyard to play"

Hope this helps
