How do you figure gallons on a swimming pool?
I wanted to know how many gallons of water was in my spa and pool.
I used a very simple formula. I bought a 5 gallon bucket at Home Depot and set the hose nozzle to to see how long it would take to fill the bucket. I finally set it to fill the bucket to the rim in one minute. I placed the hose in the spa and set the timer to see how long it would take to fill the spa before it started to overflow into the pool. It took 100 minutes to fill the spa; one hour and twenty minutes; 500 gallons. It then took 2400 minutes to fill the pool; 40 hours; 12,000 gallons of water. I tried the LxWxD and came up with about 18,000 gallons. To double check my work, I tried it with a bucket. The LxWxD answer was wrong. Now I know how much chemicals to add every time I check the hp... Have a good day. Oh, I drained the pool to give it a nice acid wash and replace the lights. Have a good day....George Y
