Every civilization needs a way to keep track of time and the passing of it. To grow crops it's important to know the seasons, ect. It also gave explanations to natural occurances like solar and lunar eclipses.

No one really knows how the Mayan civilization coll pased. It collapsed around 900 A.D.

No one is really sure why but it is known that the Spanish conquistadors came and conquered them and since the Maya were people that wanted peace they left and disappeared forever.

The Mayan's had quite a few food sources, including both plants and animals. One of the plants they were known to grow is corn, or maize. Other common plants that they made were: chili pepper and squash. The Mayan people hunted dogs, and other large animals for their meat sources.

The Aztecs were very artistic. they wrote poems, played music and danced to tell the stories of their past. Stone sculptures and carvings usually depicted gods or religious stories. They also carved many masks.

Inca Empire was the largest pre- Columbian empire and was located in Western and Northwestern South America. The empire consisted of areas of modern day Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Colombia and Bolivia.

Mayans still exist today the empire fell due to a number of reasons. Disease wiped out thousands when the Spanish arrived. After that the empire couldn't prosper with so many leaving and dying. The amount of territory it occupied was hard to maintain. Many Mayans were forced into Catholic missions. The structure of Mayan society is drastically different compared to its former glory but many of the traditions and language is still the same. So they didn't all disappear

The Pueblo Indians are known for their specific type of architecture. They built houses in cliff sides. Not just caves, but carved communities into cliffs that were only accessible by retractable ladders.
