Why is an automatic toaster open loop system?
since i doesnt take any feedback and the bread pops out as soon as the time is over. whether the bread was toasted or not is not seen, hence it is open loop.
Why concentric reducer is used in pump discharge?
The pump discharge reducer doesn't matter if it's concentric or eccentric. It's the pump SUCTION that needs to be an eccentric reducer that is always flat on top (F.O.T.) The eccentric reducer on the pump suction reduces pump cavatation (pump catching air).
Does all of the heat produced by an SMA weld stay in the weld?
no some of the heat is radiated away in forms of light and heat waves
Is spot facing and drilling operations can be done on the same machine?
yes... spot facing can be done useing a drilling machine. for more info just download drill press text book.ppt @google cheers....
What is the meaning of the different symbols and abbreviations found on engineering drawings?
There are different national and international standards for symbols and abbreviations. You will need to check out the national standards for the drawings you are referring to.
Cotter joint is used transmit which type of loads?
Cotter Joint is used to transmit Axial Forces..... ie tensile force.
What is the difference between plummer block to pillow block?
Both are same only, pillow block to to separate the parts in top to bottom, in plummber block can change only housing and bearing only.
Weight difference in hot rolled and cold rolled?
The weight of the two is not much different, generally speaking, cold-rolled sheet is thinner than hot-rolled sheet, if you want to buy cold-rolled sheet or hot-rolled sheet, you can go to the official website of Changzheng, Changzheng's products are of high quality and are the choice of the public. If you want to buy cold rolled sheet or hot rolled sheet, you can go to the official website of Changzeng.
What is the working pressure for NPT thread's?
1/4" thru 1/2" can be rated as high as 15,000 psi
3/4" thru 1" can be rated as high as 10,000 psi
Anything larger would only be rated no higher then 5000 psi.
..... But the type of material/wall thickness will directly effect the working pressure ratings
Why it is written not to be loose shunted on train wagon?
The term loose shunting referes to the process wagons of a goods train allowed to move in its own momentum ie., without an engine to push/pull. In the case of oil tankers, wagons carrying cattle, human etc this process in not allowed.
How do you swap change the digital dash to analog in your 85 thunderbird?
by using some of the converters we can swap the analog dash into digital
Friction factor for stainless steel pipe?
for turbulent flow in pipes the friction factor depends on Reynold's number as well as the inside roughness of the material.
you could calculate the pipe inside roughness or the relative roughness by referring to the 'values of absolute roughness table'.
relative roughness =ε/D
where,
ε- absolute roughness.
D- inside diameter of the pipe.
for stainless steel the the absolute roughness value is 0.0018inches or 0.000045metre.
you could substitute the value in the above formula and find out the relative roughnes.
After doing this refer the Moody diagram to find out the friction factor for the values of Reynold's number and relative roughness.
ε
Why the yield point occur in the stress-strain graph of mild steel?
Once material is stressed. dislocations present in it starts to move and gather near grain boundary. These dislocation are repulsive in nature and resist further movement, hence yield point occurs. Once dislocations crosses the grain boundary, there is very less amount of force required to keep them moving, hence yield point phenomenon appears i.e. less amount of force is required.
Who is better astm a 105 or astm 197?
ASTM A105 is a Carbon Steel material spec used in forged fittings, such as 2000# or higher socket weld or threaded fittings, forged flanges, etc..
ASTM A197 is a Malleable iron material spec used in 150# socket weld or threaded fittings.
What is interlocks in steam turbine?
Interlock system is in turbine for protect the turbine. different types of interlocks in turbine 1. high vibration, 2. Bearing oil Temp,3. vacuum related, 4. over speed, 5. differential expansion, 6. casing expansion, 7. lube oil header Pressure. 8. Axil shift. etc... . this interlocks is keep the turbine in safe mode in any abnormalities.
Difference between scriber and marking gauge?
A scriber is something that is a part of some instrument used for marking.
A marking gauge is a device especially used for marking.
Difference between forged steel and carbon steel?
Forged steel has been subject to high temperature and pressure forcing the crystal structure
closer together and increasing tensile strength (used in high pressure gas compressors). Carbon steel is conventional steel produced by the Bessemer process. In the oil industry carbon steel is the default option for casing and tubing used in oil wells but it is not very resistant to
corrosion.
In wells with corrosive compounds such as H2S or CO2 it is often replaced by more expensive 13Cr steel (stainless).
Why is stainless steel more likely to suffer from distortion than carbon steels?
high thermal expansion
Why phase diagram is called equilibrium diagram?
A phase diagram of the equilibrium relationship between temperature, pressure, and composition in any system.
If you reduce the piping size does air pressure increase?
Assuming you mean using smaller piping in a compressed air system-- answer is no, the air pressure does not increase. In fact, the air pressure measured at the end of the line will be lower due to increased pressure drop in the smaller lines from the compressor. The air velocity in the pipes will be higher because of the reduced inside area of the lines, but the actual pressure will be lower at the exit. An air tool at the end of the line would be less powerful.
