Menstruation

Menstruation is the routine discharge, or release, of blood and mucosal tissue from the uterus. This process occurs about once a month from the time a female reaches puberty until menopause. During pregnancy, the monthly menstrual cycle is absent while the womb nourishes the growing fetus.

Do you have early cramps before your period?

not really. but you need to get enough protein and that will stop that from happening.

agreeing with the person above me, but also it depends on how extreme i would say they are. if they are severe, then no. but if they are just light then yeah because i know i get them either a week before, or right when i start. when you use artificial sweeteners like splenda, or sweetnlow then that can also cause them (so my mom says and my gym teacher/ health teacher) so if you cut back on them, then you might be OK. one thing you do have to worry about is if it's really bad cramps before your period and then when you have it, and it is really heavy and lasts a while, that's when i would go see your doc!!

When I am having my period I need to go to the bathroom I also throw up and get intense cramps and I get chills and my back hurts what should I do would you recommend a doctor?

I def recommend seeing a doctor. You can also take pills like Naproxen that is a muscle relaxer. If the muscle relaxes there should be no throwing up. The birth control pill can also help with things like these. Today women don't have to suffer from this.

Pads are an absorbent piece of material - reusable pads are made from cloth whereas disposable pads can be made from cotton or wood pulp with plastic packing - these go into the underwear to absorb menstrual flow as it leaves the body. Disposable pads typically have adhesive on the back to stick the pads into place, whereas cloth pads typically have snap fasteners to hold the pad in place.

Tampons are an absorbent wad of material - reusable tampons are made from rolled-up cloth or natural sponge, disposable tampons can be made from synthetic sponge, compressed cotton, or compressed wood pulp known as rayon - these are inserted into the vagina to absorb menstrual flow before it leaves the body. Is it possible to bleed in first couple days after conception?

I'm not sure I understand this question, if you have conceived successfully and bleed 2 days after conception then this could be an early miscarriage, chances are you would not notice being pregnant 2 days after conception as HGC levels would not be high enough to give off any pregnancy symptoms and would not show up on a HPT either. Hope this helps.

What happens to used tampons?

It depends on how they're disposed of...

Used tampons should be wrapped-up and thrown into a bin - after which they may either be incinerated or put into a garbage dump or landfill where they may sit for years decomposing (cotton tampons decompose faster than rayon tampons). Although tampons shouldn't be flushed many women do flush, often because tampon companies falsely claim that their products are flushable, when flushed they can cause blockages to pipes or bypass the sewage treatment plant so ending-up in the ocean.

I had my period about a week ago now im bleeding brownish blood what does this mean?

it could mean anthing and could just be normal spotting which happens to everyone once in a while, your pill could be affecting this to, if you were acctive, it could be implanain bleeding which occurs about 5 days after possible conception though it is often mistaken for a period it is not you can define it by it will probably be shorter and lighter and a piny or a brownish colour

Is it normal if you took birth control for a week and started it the first day on Sunday and stopped taking it on Saturday and then got your period again on the following Tuesday?

Well, if you stopped taking it completely that might cause a flux in your hormones and start your period. The pill regulates the hormones in your body so you don't become pregnant. It kind of makes your body think your pregnant. Also, depends on when you started taking the pill. Was it at the beginning of your period or the end? Each one is different. Maybe you should ask the doctor or clinic you got them from.

What causes salty smelling urine?

There are various causes of sweet smell in the urine. Most are transient and due to metabolizing various foods. Sometimes strong odor is due to highly concentrated urine when one hasn't consumed enough water, easily fixed. Another cause is sweet smell due to uncontrolled diabetes melitus, which can be determined through urinalysis evaluated by a physician.

There is a rare metabolic disease called Mapple Syrup Urine Disease , as the smell is like slightly burnt sugar - or for people who have actually smelt mapple syrup, that is apparently what the urine smell is similar to. The incidence of this illness is around one in 200.000 births, with the exception of a small intermarrying community of Northern European descent in the USA where the incidence is much higher. This neurological condition effects infants and children and would not present in adults.

MSUD, as it is known, is a condition where the body can't deal with substances called branched aminoacids. One of these, called leucine is toxic, in particular to the brain. There are various types of the disease, symptoms range from brain disfunction and death in the newborn period to very mild indeed. Many children will have mental retardation, even if their MSUD is discovered early and the metabolic doctors that care for them put them on the special protective diet at a very young age.

Some very fortunate children are known to have normal intelligence, this requires very good metabolic control throughout their lifetime.

Other causes of sweet smell in the urine are very rare indeed. One should have a talk with a doctor who specialises in metabolic medicine if one is concerned that urine smells very different to the usual. The tests to find out what is wrong and the methods to fix the problem are very complex.

Is it recommended to use a tampon when you still a virgin?

Yes, you can use a tampon even if you're a virgin.

Virgin means someone who has not had sex, it's just a word not a physical state of being - in other words your vagina is no different now to what it will be after you have had sex. You may have a hymen but the hymen doesn't cover much of the vaginal opening and is flexible so will easily allow you to insert a tampon and will even likely remain in tact if you have sex with someone with a penis.

You only stop being a virgin once you have sex with another person - that is consensual sex (so rape doesn't count), and it can include vaginal penetration with a penis but not always - how you define sex and when you consider yourself no longer a virgin is up to you.
