I have read that because Methadone can give you dry mouth it is wise to chew gum and hydrate as much as possible.

Nothing supposedly. But I personally, along with a few other pain clinic patients, think the round do not work as well as the oblong. Always request the oblong when getting your scrip filled.

Absolutely not; they are the exact same thing; one is just designed to last longer than the other before your body breaks it down. Morphine IR and Morphine ER are both morphine; one is instant-release (IR) and the other is extended release (ER). So a UA will definitely detect both, no matter whether it is a slow-release (ER) or a fast-release (IR). Depending on the type of test it will come up positive for 'opiates', or 'morphine' if it is a test that names the actual base substance.

The only risk is when you miss a pill or have unprotected sex when you haven't been on the pill for 4 weeks.

It depends on your overall opiate tolerance (how long you've been on Methadone, dosage,), body size, dose of the other meds, etc.

However....

Vicodin, being a Schedule III opiate, is not as strong as either Demerol or Methadone, both of which are Schedule II. You already know this because like me, you need to get your prescriptions monthly. Demerol and Methadone, being Schedule II, are in the same class of opiate.

As long as your Dentist is aware of your Methadone prescription you shouldn't have any problem. The main risk of course, like any opiate, is respiratory depression. It will increase your tolerance a bit, but you'll probably find you won't need them that much. Vicodin isn't going to do anything - you really don't even need to take it, and I'm frankly surprised they prescribed it, unless it's an old prescription. I have a few oldies around myself for emergencies.

If you want to be conservative, just augment your Meth with the Demerol and let it do the work - you likely don't need both. Remember never use more than you need or you'll wind up raising your upper tolerance limit to the point where you risk not getting any benefit, and only increased side effects. That's not a place you want to be as I've been there before. Lowering your tolerance level is no fun.

mETHADONE AND sUBOXONE ARE 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DRUGS. tHE ONLY SIMILARITY IS THE FACT THAT THEY ARE BOTH OPIATE BLOCKERS. SUBOXONE IS A COMBO OF NALAXONE AND BUPRINORPHINE AND METHADONE IS,WELL, METHADONE.

mETHADONE WILL GET YOU VERY HIGH AND IN MY OPINION LEADS TO USING OTHER DRUGS IN COMBINATION WITH IT. AFTER TAKING SUBOXONE FOR A WEEK YOU WILL NOT GET A BUZZ OFF OF IT ANYMORE AND YOU ARE OPEN TO HAVING A NORMAL LIFE AGAIN WITHOUT THE CONSTANT CRAVINGS FOR OTHER DRUGS. METHADONE IS JUST AN EASY SUBSTITUTE FOR HEROIN OR OTHER STRONG OPIATES. YOU GET JUST AS HIGH, IF NOT MORE SO AND YOU STILL CANNOT FUNCTION AND HAVE A REGULAR AND PRODUCTIVE LIFE THAT THE SUBOXONE PROVIDES.

No they can test the level and see exactly how much is in ur system and match it to the amount ur suppose to be taking . A big problem with clinics are people selling their meds so they monitor it closely by testing levels.

It is simply the duration methadone remains active in your system. It does not necessarily refer to just the euphoric effects. AS you probably know, methadone has the longest half-life of all synthetic opiates.

No. The methadone works by binding the opioid receptors in your body. Hydrocodone is a weakened opiate derivative and therefore the two will not complement each other.

Your doctor probably weaned you off the Methadone too fast before switching you over to Suboxone. Methadone takes a LONG time to withdrawal from. I would definitely tell your doctor that you're still feeling withdrawals from the Methadone so he can help you.

YES, it is safe to take Mucinex while taking Methadone. I contacted a pharmacist to confirm that it is safe, because I needed to know the same thing. They told me it is safe but they wouldn't take them directly together. She said to wait like an hour or so between each medicine. Then she said that is a good rule of thumb for any medications that you are taking. So yes, you can take them together just wait an hour in between.

Theoretically you can die from near anything, but as far as an overdose and/or reaction of the combined drugs AT THAT DOSAGE, it would be extraordinarily unlikely.

Generally, if someone has had the stomach flu or feels nauseated when they go to my methadone clinic, the nurse has you wait there for 15 minutes after you dose. This happened to me once, and they said as long as you keep it down for 15-20 min. after dosing, you should have absorbed most of it. If you vomit before the 15 min. are up, they will consider dosing you again at about half of your normal dosing level.

Well, no opiate-based pain medication will. Because methadone is an opiate, and because 190mg's is so much, there is no way any other opiate will be able to get through to the opioid receptors with that much methadone. You will have to take something for pain that is not opiate-based.

If you have a prescription for BOTH drugs, yes it is OK. If you are taking one of them without a legitimate doctor's care, then don't mix anything because you don't know your individual body well enough - your doctor keeps track of those things and looks them up before prescribing any medication to you. Methadone messes with your heart, which could cause problems with the metoprolol unless your doctor is aware of this side effect.
