The official SI prefixes for multiples have been altered to apply to bytes, where computers have used increments of 1024 (210) rather than 1000 as other metric uses do. The amended names are as follows:

Bit = 1 binary digit

Byte = 8 bits

Kibibyte = 1024 bytes

Mebibyte = 1024 kibibytes = 220 bytes or 1048576 bytes

Gibibyte = 1024 mebibytes = 230 bytes

Tebibyte = 1024 gibibytes = 240 bytes

Pebibyte = 1024 tebibytes = 250 bytes

Exbibyte = 1024 pebibytes = 260 bytes

Zebibyte = 1024 exbibytes = 270 bytes

Yobibyte = 1024 zebibytes = 280 bytes

Each type of measurement in the metric system is based on a decimal system where units are related by powers of 10. The three main types of measurements in the metric system are length (meter), mass (gram), and volume (liter). Technically speaking weight is measured in newtons, but newtons are used to measure force. Weight in the scientific sense is the force a body exerts due to the effect of gravity on it's mass. Gravity on earth has an accelerating effect of roughly ten metres per second per second. So weight is mass, in kilograms, multiplied by ten. Newtons are a derived unit made up of kilogram metres per second per second.

In everyday use weight is taken as a synonym for mass; so recipes, people, buses, etc. are weighed in kilograms.

There is no SI unit for torque. Torque uses a compound unit such as Nm in the SI system.

The SI (systemme internationale) or international system for measuring temperature is the centigrade scale. Milliliters measure volume, and decimeters measure length. You can't convert from one unit to the other.

So if the questioner is asking for a currently used system of units that is other than the international system, there are probably many such systems. Any system other than the metric system will do. The one I am familiar with is the English system, also known as the FPS (foot-pound-second) system.

A tragic example is the loss of the Mars Observer which went out of control because one group of engineers (the guys who designed the propulsion system) used one system of units and another group (the guys who calculated the flight parameters and the fuel to burn to get the spacecraft into orbit around Mars) used another set of units.
