Is is likely to for a person to be awarded SSDI for chronic disabling migraines?

It is unlikely. It becomes more likely when you can show that you have been to neurologist after neurologist and have tried many things. It becomes more likely when you have a letter from one of those doctors stating just how disabling they are AND how it would impact your ability to work. You need to show specifics, the vomiting, etc. It also becomes more likely if you are depressed because of your chronic migraines, because depression is more likely to be awarded SSDI.

Definitely get a lawyer to take your case. They take people much more seriously when they have a lawyer.

The SSDI process goes something like this. You are denied twice. Everyone is denied twice, except those with terminal illnesses. There are forms you fill out to appeal. After the second time you go to an informal hearing. This is where the majority of people get awarded SSDI. This whole process takes years. They want to wait people out. Some states, not all, allow people who are applying for SSDI to get on welfare while this whole process is going on. You pay them back with your retroactive check IF you get awarded Soc. Sec. If you do not get awarded Soc. Sec., they eat the cost. After you have applied for SSDI at your local Soc. Sec. office, go to the local welfare office to see about services they offer.

Do people ever get hospitalized for migraines if so why?

People do get hospitalized for migraine headaches.

The two main reasons people are admitted for a hospital stay for migraines are when the person's migraine continues longer than 72 hours and when the nausea and vomiting are unable to be controlled, which can cause severe dehydration.

1. When a person's migraine lasts longer than 72 hours that person is in status migrainous. The person will be admitted to the hospital to try and break the migraine cycle with IV medication. It is not just about controlling the symptoms, but about stopping the entire migraine process.

2. When a migraine causes extended nausea and vomiting, not only is a person unable to take medication by mouth which might help end the migraine, but they can become severely dehydrated. Many times the emergency department can help this by administering anti-nausea medications and rehydrating via IV. But in rare instance, it will take more than a liter or two of saline. Admission to the hospital becomes more common if the person has another medical problem that requires medication or food, such as diabetes or a seizure disorder.

To which side does the face deviates if someone has right side of face paralysis?

If the right side of the person's face was paralyzed, the right side would appear to be shifted lower, while the left would be animated.

Facial paralysis is a condition defined by the total lack of voluntary muscle movement on one side of the face. About 75% of facial paralysis is caused by Bell's Palsy, a condition that causes the nerves in the face to become inflamed. Other common causes of facial paralysis include: * Stroke * Brain Tumor * Sarcoidosis * Lyme disease * Infection * Birth trauma in newborns Doctors will ask patients with facial paralysis questions in order to determine the cause. The patient will be asked about medical history, current symptoms of the facial paralysis, whether any other symptoms are present, and whether the patient has recently been sick or injured. Tests to confirm the cause may include blood tests, MRI, CT scan, and electromyography. A combination of physical, speech, and occupational therapy is generally used. In some cases, plastic surgery is used to improve the ability of the eye to close, as well as to improve appearance.

In a patient diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri how severe are the headaches and how often do they occur?

The headaches associated with pseudotumor cerebri, or intracranial hypertension, can be mild to severely painful, as the brain itself is having increased pressure on it, as well as the nerves in the back of the eyes. The headaches themselves are usually near daily, but can be controlled with diuretics, diet, and weight loss. Sometimes spinal taps are used to decrease the pressure by removing some of the cerebral spinal fluid, and in some cases surgery is needed.

It is important to manage this condition, as the pressure on the back of the eyes can cause permanent blindness.

Why does Depakote make you shake or tremble?

My wife had the symptom of shake, tremble, fall to floor, walk slowly, cannot control the urine after took Depakote for two years. I discuss with doctor to stop the use of this medicine. After stopping this medicine, all of the symptom went away.

Answer

I'm sure it all depends on what she was taking it for. I take the 500mg pill twice a day for epilepsy. I have no problems with urine but with the medication making me tired and drowsy, I have a hard time standing still in a perfect position and can't stay still on 1 foot in more than 3 to 5 seconds. Whenever I'm standing still on both legs I get feelings like I'm rocking back and forth as if I can't stay perfectly still due to the pill making me tired and drowsy.

What is the relationship between migraines and nausea?

Sometimes nausea during migraines is brought up directly by the pain.

However, one of the major causes of migraine-related nausea is gastroparesis. Gastroparesis is when the forward motion of your digestion tract slows or stops. During this, the stomach is not emptying correctly - causing nausea.

Gastroparesis is the most likely cause of cyclical vomiting (every hour on the hour) during migraines.

In cases where a migraineur experiences severe gastroparesis, they may need to opt to take abortive medications as injections, nasal sprays, or in sublingual forms. They may also need to take medications such as Reglan or Compazine to stop nausea and vomiting, and to promote gastric emptying.

I am numb on my left side of my body. It starts around the lower part of my mouth and it goes all the way down to my foot. I also walk with a limp on the left side and I get migraines.?

Migraines can cause the symptoms you are describing, but the numbness would not be constant. It would generally start right before or at the beginning of the migraine pain.

If you are experiencing numbness and you never have before, you need to seek emergency care to rule out a stroke.
