Can depakote make you stop feeling emotions?
Impossible. It can make it possible for a bipolar to finally feel "normal" emotions instead of uncontrollable extremes.
Migraine is a genetic neurologic disease - its cause is your genetic makeup. Migraine is not a symptom. However it might be possible for a medicine like Depakote to trigger a Migraine in a genetically susceptible person.
For best results in diagnosis and treatment of Migraine and other headache disorders, seek the help of a board certified headache and Migraine specialist.

If you are susceptible to migraine then you have an instability in your neurology. Sharp blows to the neck and head could certainly exacerbate the problem. Some migraines are caused by malformations within the head. Boxing could cause a worsening of any abnormalities.
How long does it take for Excedrin migraine to be depleted from your system?
For me, the really bad part only lasted about 36 - 48 hours, but the lingering need and rebound headaches continue for me (it's been 10 days). But I did not think I was going to survive the first 24 hours, it is that bad.
Is there a cure for migraines?
The point of all the above? We can reduce the number and frequency of migraine headaches. Reduce them to a bare minimum, one every five years even. But a comparison must be drawn to another neurological disorder - epilepsy. A person can have their seizures well under control for years, but the fact is their brain works differently - and there is the possibility that any day they could have a seizure. It is the same with migraine headaches. You could have them under control for years, but the possibility still lurks that you will have one - because your brain has a certain dysfunction.
More input and perspectivesI disagree there is no cure for migraines. I have a relative that suffered from migraines for 12 years. She had been to doctor to doctor all over the United States, and no-one could help her. She was on every kind of medicine that you could possibly think of for migraines. She also had to stay at many hospitals for tests. Until one day someone she read that a chropractor had helped people with migraines for fifty dollars. She went and all he had to do was have her in everyday for about two weeks, three days for another two weeks, then one day and so on. Within three months she had no more migraines. She said it was one of the best descitions she has ever made.
Chiropractic may be successful as a treatment for migraines for some people, particularly cervicogenic migraines. However, it is the same as any other treatment - doing the same as myofascial therapy, craniosacral therapy, osteopathic manipulation, microvascular decompression surgery, and the NTI appliance. It can adjust pressure and bad signaling of the nerves, as well as reducing muscle spasm (which for some is a trigger for migraines), however - the fact that you are a person who experiences the spreading cortical depression of migraine will not be altered. Also, the chiropractic treatment of neck manipulation carries a small risk of stroke due to causing clots in the carotid artery. If you do pursue chiropractic treatment for your migraine, any good chiropractor will know other methods of adjusting the cervical spine without that classic neck twist. Those that practice the Sacro Occipital Technique are especially gentle. The other chiropractic methods will give you the same benefit.
As a chronic migraine sufferer for over 15 years, I was getting as many as 22-27 migraine headaches a month. I discovered this after keeping a migraine diary. I was so used to getting them daily, I never realized how much of my life was affected. I started participating in a study. After thousands of dollars on medication and numerous efforts to relieve the pain (massage, massaging apparatuses, ice packs, eye covers, over the counter products like Biofreeze), I figured, "Why not?" I started getting Botox injections around my temples and scalp, and even down into my neck and shoulders. It was very similar to acupuncture, and actually felt relieving when I had them done since I usually had a migraine) This did improve the number and duration of migraines I was getting, but was only taking the number of migraines down to about 1/3.
I checked into a chiropractor who gives a Chiropractic Bio Physics (CBP) approach, which is essentially adding a sort of "physical therapy" into your treatment regimen. It took about 3 hours a week, being adjusted, stretched and doing excercises with my chirpractor, and following up on the excercises at home. He explained where and why I was getting the pressure on points of my nerves from my x-rays, and my treatment was catered to my specific causes. There are only a handful of chiropractors across the US that utilize this approach. Overall cost? About $1800 (without insurance). Luckily I had help from my insurance to absorb this cost, but I'd happily pay it in full to experience life as I do now - migraine free! I am happy to say that I now RARELY get migraines, about one or two days a month around my menstruation time, which my doctors all say are normal. I rarely have to use my prescription anymore, and can most of the time just use Excedrin Migraine.
Is it ok to give acetomeniphen and ibuprofen together to a child to treat a headache?
It is not advisable to give 2 different NSAIDS(non-sterroidal anti inflammitories)to a child at the same time. NSAIDS can cause gastrointestinal problems, primarily bleeding of the stomach. It would be best to first try one or the other, than after 4-6 hours if it isn't helping, try the other. Also make sure you are giving them Childrens versions of either as age appropriate.
Does a poor diet help cause migraines?
Certain preservatives can trigger migraines or make them worse. Improper diet can also increase the risk of having a migraine.
How much does lab test for depakote level cost?
That actually depends on your insurance and your personal doctor's rates. I don't have insurance so I have to pay everything out of pocket, but with that being said...most dr's offices give discounts to patients that do have to pay out of pocket. I actually pay around $70 every 3 months to have my labs done

What are signs of a brain tumor?
Some might be headaches, muddled thinking, noticeable curtailments of motor control. Some brain tumors can go asymptomatic for a long time and others may produce more noticeable symptoms. If you suspect such a disorder, you must contact your doctor and request a CAT (Computerized Axial Tomography) scan.
As the brain is confined in the skull, there is little space. When a brain tumor occurs it makes it tight and tighter. Causing pressure known as raised intracranial pressure (ICP).
The early symptoms of a brain tumor include, nausea and headaches. There could be other things that are causing this but if they don't go or get worst after a week it's important to consult your doctor.
The later symptom is drowsiness. But can also be blurred vision, so like 'objects float'.
Another symptom is seizures. Also a victim of a Brain Tumor may change the personality like becoming more violent.
I have had a need to break my teeth. hold them together so hard until they break. Only on topamax.
Can you overdose on excedrin migrane?
Yes. Excedrin (all forms of Excedrin) contain acetaminophen (Tylenol). Acetaminophen in large doses can liver damage and even failure. The dosing instructions state 4000mg a day is the limit, with 1000mg being the max per dose. People who take products with acetaminophen daily may have a limit of 3000mg per day before liver damage occurs.
The FDA is now recognizing the concern. They are talking about changing the maximum doses due to the number of deaths from liver failure from acetaminophen products. Many of those deaths are not intentional overdoses.
It is important to read the labels on everything you are taking. You may be taking Excedrin within instructions, but then grab a cold medicine that also contains acetaminophen. You may injure yourself and be prescribed Vicodin or Percocet, and both of those contain acetaminophen. Be careful mixing medications.

Is 2000mg of depakote safe for 13 year old boy who weighs 145 pounds?
There is no safe dose of Depakote (or of any other antipsychotic). These medications cause brain damage, and there is a serious risk of Tardive Diskinesia (a permanent movement disorder similar to Parkinsons) at any dose. Something like 20% of people who take antipsychotics eventually end up with this disorder, and it never goes away - they are crippled for life.
(*opinion follows*) It is immoral to give antipsychotics to children under 18. They are too young to weigh the risks and benefits and make an informed decision, and by the time they are old enough it may already be too late. Frankly, I think any psychiatrist who prescribes these drugs to kids should have their license revoked. You probably shouldn't be considering any kind of psychiatric medication unless your child has been in intensive counseling for a year without improvement.
Is 500 mlg depakote the same as 500 mlg depakote er?
No. It is not the same at all. ER is extended release, which means it the medication has special coating which controls how fast the drug is released from the pill into your body, which may allow you to take certain medications fewer times a day instead of more often.

Is there any danger when taking methadone and also taking fioricet for migraines?
Yes, there can be a danger.
Methadone is a synthetic narcotic medication. All narcotic medications depress the respiratory system to some degree. How much it depresses the person's respiratory system and whether or not it can cause a problem (to the degree of causing the person not to breathe) all depends on the person's dosage and tolerance to the medication.
Fioricet contains butalbital, acetaminophen and caffeine. Butalibital is a barbiturate medication. Barbiturates ALSO depress the respiratory system.
You need to be extremely careful when combining these two medications. Your doctor needs to know how much you are taking at one time. Any time your dose is increased on either, you should have someone with you in case there is a problem.
Keep in mind that there is also a version of Fioricet with Codeine, which means you would be combining yet another respiratory depressant into the mix. And yes, codeine - when compared with methadone - seems like a joke. However, all it takes is that one milligram of medication over what your body can handle and you can go into respiratory distress. Methadone is an extremely finicky medication in this regard.
Please take care.

If you are in constant migraine pain, along with constant neurological symptoms such as numbness, it may not be a migraine at all.
It is important to seek the help of a neurologist to rule out other causes, such as a herniated disc or a stroke.
