A migraine headache is a recurring headache affecting only a portion of the head, which is coupled by nausea, sleep disruption, vomiting, visual disturbances and depression. It is approximately 3 times more common in women than in men.

DO NOT TAKE PAIN KILLERS UNLESS TALKING TO A DOCTOR ABOUT IT!!! Just think about how a couple pain killers can work for your pain...imagine what those couple pain killers would do to zygote/ fetus.
Some pain killers can harm a developing baby(in the 1st trimester) and cause dependence and slow/weakened response if used the the 3rd trimester or right before birth. Have her talk with her doctor of course, and have your friend to check the category of the medications to see if it can harm, you can do this at www.drugs.com . On that site, all you have to do is enter in the medication and it will tell you all the information your friend needs.

Can migraines be mistaken as an anerurysm?
Migraines are a repeating neurological syndrome. The pain occurs, worsens, and then resolves. If the patient has neurological symptoms, they occur and then resolve as well.

1. Over the counter you folks have access to a migraine abortive that we can only get through prescription in the US. It is called Imigran. It comes in 50mg dosage. Our prescription dosage in the US comes in either 50mg or 100mg.
If you can find an OTC version of the drug Naprosyn and take enough to equal 500mg, and take that at the same time as the Imigran, then you would be taking the same as the US prescription Treximet. Treximet contains the Naproxen to make the the Imitrex/Imigran (sumatriptan) work longer and better by reducing the inflammation in the brain.
2. In the UK, you also have your choice of many different OTC pain relievers that contain small amounts of narcotic medications. While the ones below may not end your migraine, they will be able to help control pain.
a) Migraleve - Paracetamol, codeine (the pink Migraleve also have buclizine to relieve nausea)
b) Solpadeine Migraine - Ibuprofen, codeine
c) Paramol - paracetamol, dihydrocodeine
These are all over the counter. Be careful of how much paracetamol you are ingesting.
If you go to your doctor, there are many, many more medications available that can help relieve your migraine with little side effects. It takes trial and error. If you are having more than 2 migraines a month, then you qualify to take preventative migraine medication.
Ask about the following abortive migraine medications:
Sumatriptan, Rizatriptan, Eletriptan, Frovatriptan, Naratriptan, Zolmitriptan, Almotriptan.
If you are suffering from menstrual migraine, you might wish to start with Frovatriptan, due to its ability to stay in the body for an extended period of time.
In some people, coffee can trigger anything from a tension headache to a migraine. In other people, coffee can relieve them.
Some people are addicted to caffeine and going without their morning coffee will cause caffeine withdrawal, one of the symptoms of which can be a severe headache. Headache specialists suggest that a migraineur might put off their triptans' demise by alternating between one or two different triptans, so you aren't consistently using the same one.
The FDA has approved the triptan Treximet. It is not a new triptan, simply Imitrex (sumatriptan) repackaged with some Aleve (naproxen) mixed in. Studies have shown that by adding a dose of an anti-inflammatory NSAID like naproxen to sumatriptan, you increase its effectiveness and longevity.

I told a doctor that I didn't want to take anything dealing with my Nerves ever again, and then I told him that I was having problems sleeping. He saw fit to give me something else dealing with my nerves but he said that it was to help me sleep. So, I decided to go to the Drug Store and buy something off the shelf to aid me in sleeping. Just know what you are putting into the body. I used to love hot peppers, and now my body can't tolerate them any more. Not just pain, but this past summer, I couldn't deal with the heat.
